Easter Sunday, 2004

I decided this AM that I was going to celebrate my first real Easter with my Love, my Lord Jesus, by going down to the Mississippi River and finding Him and having a few words with Him...wanting to get as close to Him as I possibly could this special day.

So, after church and a lunch with the bunch, BD took me that way home and pulled over in that small side park right on the riverfront downtown Memphis.

I had hoped for sunny day today but the sky remained gray from horizon to horizon with some lite drizzle on the way to church. Weatherman predicted it to be that way all day today as well as tomorrow.

After parking car in the lot, we had to walk about what might be half a city block down to the bank of the river, where they had installed some of those concrete and wood slat benches that one could sit on as they watched the river roll by.

BD decided to stay and sit on the south side of a service building. We were there, when a cold blast of north wind hit us as we stepped into the open from the shielded southern side. I was needing to go down as close as possible to find the place where I could talk to my Jesus, so I went on.

After reaching the river, I sat on the bench and took in the sights of the barge and tug boat pushing a load upriver, past the Memphis Queen Riverboat docked at the foot of Beale St. and the people walking up the river walk headed to a destination that only they knew about. The wind was blowing sharply against my right ear causing a little pain so I turned around on the bench, put my feet up on it (to help keep the swelling down that I have recently been experiencing), looked up above and THEN I SAW IT!!!!

I saw a few beautiful white fluffy clouds surrounding some very blue sky in an almost perfect circle with the dark clouds of the day all the rest of the way over me in the sky.....and.....you will never believe what was in the center of the blue in those white fluffy clouds! It was the SUN - almost over my head. Then, the tears flowed thru my smile and I sat there and talked to my Lord for about 15-20 minutes.

I know that some will scoff and say "a coincidence only," but in my mind and my heart, I know that He knew and was there with me. He knew how important this day was for me. He knew how I had wanted to see the sun up there from the time I arose from my bed this morn. He knew the love and need for Him that was in me that day...He knew.

After a short talk with Him, I left, met BD back by the car and we came on home.

I will never forget my first real celebration day of my Savior's Resurrection and the love and grace that He poured out on me while sitting on a park bench beside the Mississippi River in the wind.

Pray that your day has been a very good one also and you have made some good memories to put in your bank.
