Half A Butterfly

There was a time I had a dream just before waking from my sleep.
I saw half of the most beautiful butterfly, all colors of the rainbow, very deep
Blues, greens, purples, reds and yellows, but it was exactly only half,
And someone picked it up and put it in a custom shaped plastic cask.

For many months, I wondered what this dream was all about.
It was so very real, you see. I couldn't quite figure it out.
Until one day, it came to me, my spirit has been bonded to another.
There was another half butterfly somewhere, either a sister or a brother.

In this life, we can be transformed from the ugly sin-filled human that we are,
By Jesus grace and salvation into a new person, which will by far
Surpass the ordinary, but those who choose to be reborn again are few.
They're like the caterpillar before it's changed from the old life to the new.

Some like the feeling of the safety of the world in their cocoon.
Don't want to move over, ask Jesus in and give Him a little room,
To live within their hearts and change the way they are living their life.
They do not know that the breath of God can blow away their strife.

The day our Lord calls me by name and asks me to come home,
I will dance for joy, but then remember, half a butterfly can't fly alone.
I will look for you, my other half. I'll search until one glorious day
We will come together and this butterfly in all it's fullness will fly away.
