The Celtic Bards

Welcome to The Celtic Bards.

Cead Mile Failite, Beannachtai, Slainte

Gather round the camp fire, pull up a chair and share a poem or tale. Let the spirit flow through the rays of light that show. Collect and gather the language of the trees, the honey song of the bees, the gentle drum of waves droning. See that for yourself a fire in the head, a poem's beginnings from inspirations spread. Welcome to the Bardic arts and practice with love in your heart, Carry with you upon the wings of truth and honesty, A fire made to burn bright in the darkest of night. Alight to a place where poems are like water and words like air. Welcome to the corner of the bardic world and sing a song made of breath in nature's care.

The Celtic Bards Yahoo Group is designed to bring inspiration and daily peace into the lives of those reaching back to their Celtic roots.  It embodies the work of a few individuals, but shares the scope of its presence with those who would share in it's work.

Bardic History

The bards were once the keepers of the history of the people and traveled telling there stories or histories in songs.  The tones were pure and told truth as the bard saw it.  Bards were also very strong within Scot/Irish Gaelic communities as well, their song held power and could expose the Sidhe when they tried to walk secretly among us.  They are the keepers of wisdom and song, their power would last longer than life itself and live on beyond the days making ruin or fortune of lives through their words and inspiration.

Bardic Tales

The bards often told the tales of great heroics and deeds, stories that lament the soul's journey and immortalized them.  It is within ancient texts and today's writers, singers, artist who live on in the Celtic way of the bards that give us honor and wisdom in our daily lives. Listen and read the tales strummed by the voice and words that live on...

Triads: Proverbial wisdom

There was a time when every man used the words that would lead them down the right path, and with these words recorded a glimpse in time and society.  Trinities so prevalent in Celtic life, can be expressed with both wisdom and puzzlement.  The Celtic Bards wish to bring these to you through daily sayings within the Group calendar and in the means of a website to provide enlightenment to the meaning of three.

The Garden of reflection

The losses we suffer do not have to be in vain.  There is a time for reflection within ourselves to honor our loved ones who have fallen ill or passed onto the Otherworld.  At these moments, there is often prayer made.  Within our hearts we find poetry, songs, and stories to remember faith.  As we light a candle in our solitude, take a moment to travel through the garden as viewed through the cycles of life all around the fountain.

Expressions of love

Tales of love can be found in almost every great ballad and story throughout time.  It winds its way around our hearts, pouring in an endless fount of knowledge, youth, and rhyme.  It is a great mystery- one that changes our very lives.  It brings us closer to the home of the divine, and through love we learn our way.  To bringing joy into our day, giving closeness to our families, and cherishing the moments we spend by each other's side.  If we give it, we shall receive it and be better for knowing it.  This is the Celtic Bards expressions of love.
