I thought
I would miss the lover
the deep sensual kisses
tender and
not so tender touches
exotic
erotic
nights ablaze with passion.

But another
stronger bond was made
underneath it all.

The kind that had us giddy
because it was time to dance
or fish
or toss a ball
or just 'cus
it was garage sales day.

Little "you's" came out
and made the "You"
that will never leave me.
and that's the part of "Us"
I miss most of all

I'd have gladly
given up the lover

to keep the friend.
