Some Parades in New Orleans

King Cake Tradition
The tradition of the King Cake is that there is a baby doll planted into each King Cake. The person at a party who gets the doll has to give the next party. The parties that way go on and on. King Cakes are sold through-out the Mardi Gras season and is a seasonal item. It's like a very large cinnammon roll, but most are now filled with several different flavors of fillings, such as cream cheese, strawberry, blueberry, and others. It's something you expect when in New Orleans. It's umm umm good!

Mardi Gras is all about king cakes, masked balls, parades and parties. Festivities begin two weeks before Lent. The Mardi Gras parade season begins on Saturday, February 4, 2012, and continues to Mardi Gras day itself on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. The parades routes are listed in the Times Picayune, our local newspaer.
