for that one time I took a photograph

of the mountain view

and it turned out nothing at all

as you remembered.

It wasn't so much me

however

as it was the limits of the lens

and the spare 4 by 6 inches

of the photographic paper.

I couldn't fit your world

in that tiny window,

though I tried.

And if this paper isn't big enough

or these words too hastily-chosen

will you understand

that these lines

are nothing but a prompt

for you to remember

that you were happy

and that it felt good.
