THIS WAS WRITTEN
JUST BEFORE DANNY LEFT TO GO ON A MISSION
TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY.
PLEASE PRAY FOR DANNY AND HIS SAFETY.
HE IS IN THE MARINE CORPS
THIS POEM WAS RECEIVED ON OCTOBER 5, 2001.
HE WROTE THIS JUST BEFORE HE WAS READY TO LEAVE.
"Build the road ahead"
I
awoke this morning and heard a lark
I
could see the light coming out of the dark
Like
learning to walk we start again
Me
in my way putting paper to pen
Americans
are builders we will move on
Although
the memory will last can never be gone
So
rise up America let us rebuild
Although
there are gaps that can never be filled
Let
your hearts rise up and your spirit shine through
For
that star spangled banner the red white and blue
No
matter your colour no matter your creed
We'll
all come together we all will succeed
For
our emergency services I offer my prayers
For
all of the officers who died on the stairs
Each
is a hero their story untold
We
look to their memory their hearts of gold
Let
their deeds inspire us all
And
start rebuilding before it's fall
Let
your tears turn to hope
Show
the world how we can cope
Look
to the future with brighter days
Feel
the warmth of the dawn in the suns bright rays
Come
out of the darkness and in to the light
Dont
stay in your houses all day and all night
Now
my orders are through
I'll
help tighten the screw
They
played their game
Now
they'll take their blame
We
know where they are the planners and plotters
I'll
bounce their heads like the Harlem Globetrotters
We
are trained to fight we are trained to kill
How
will I know when I've had my fill
If
body counts are all that matters
Then
all our efforts will be in tatters
The
ones we want are those in power
All
the ones inside the tower
I
want a land of the just and free
Not
where terrorists go on a killing spree
I
want a land with an open hear
No
more fear thats the start
Rise
up America we can rebuild
No
more graves that have to be filled
The
Marines are going we have been sent
To
kill our foes not the innocent
I
sign off now my wish fulfilled
The
Talibahn are the ones who're billed
I'm
off now to collect the debt
The
end of terrorism now I'll bet
