"I wonder if the boss knows they’re lurking around," said Cassidy.
"I’m sure he knows something by now," Butch said irately; "he’s no fool."
Brock looked up at them with hazed vision. Perhaps that is why Ash and Misty didn’t respond to the communicator…they must have been found out. He thought the worst was to befall them and he wished profusely that they had contacted the authorities in the first place.
"Prepare for trouble."
"Make it double."
Brock looked towards the familiar voices and for once was glad to hear that stupid motto.
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all peoples with in our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie."
"James."
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light."
"Surrender now or prepare to fight."
They both appeared toting their guns and looking very threatening. Butch and Cassidy had already taken out their weapons ready to defend themselves.
"So, you finally decided to show," Butch said, "I was beginning to think you were a coward."
"Sees how much you know," James replied.
"I know plenty," Butch said annoyed.
James told Brock to come over to his side. Butch and Cassidy wanted to keep Brock near them (a captive could be to their advantage) but could do nothing since everyone had gun pointing at each other. There was no way they could point their guns elsewhere quickly enough and not get shot. James handed Brock his spare gun. "Are you alright?"
"Yea, I think so," he said rubbing his neck.
"Why did you frame us?" Jessie asked angrily.
"What ever do you mean?" Cassidy asked.
"Don’t bullshit me!"
"Oh cut the crap, Jess! Don’t try to make this about you!"
"Silence all of you!"
Everyone looked up to see Giovanni followed by a few dozen Rockets.
Shit! This is just great! James was not so surprised that they had captured Ash and Misty but he was hoping to count himself wrong.
"What’s going on here?" Giovanni asked.
"Jessie and James are trying to kill us," Butch said.
"Well duh," James responded.
"Butch and Cassidy are plotting against you!" Jessie alleged.
"Liar!" Cassidy roared.
"There is no point in denying it any longer," Butch said calmly.
Everybody’s eyes were on him. Giovanni was stunned: his usual serious appearance turned to a dumbfounded look. He had always thought that out of all his Rockets, Butch and Cassidy were the second most loyal.
Butch held a controller in his hand and pressed a few of the buttons. The back wall of the lab spit open like an elevator door. A group of rival Rockets stepped forward with guns. And in the back of them were five hugely mutated pokémon encased in capsules. Meowth was among them.
"What the hell is this?" Giovanni demanded.
"Don’t you get it: I’m taking over Team Rocket," Butch said.
"You ungrateful wretch!" Giovanni yelled, realizing that the traitor business had merely been a diversion. "After all I’ve done for you!"
"Done for me! Ha! Don’t make me laugh," Butch said indignantly. "You do nothing but sit up on high with your precious persian and bark orders. You expect Team Rocket to go somewhere but you have no direction, no vision. You hire pathetic lowlifes like these, (pointing to Jessie and James who looked on offended) give them a uniform and expect them to capture all the pokémon in the world! And yet as they fail miserably, a thousand times over, you still keep them. It’s a wonder—possibly the greatest phenomenon—that all their avid atrocities haven’t brought down Team Rocket years ago! And then there was that stunt that they pulled off a couple of months ago; it was mere luck—a half-hazard accident—yet you fawned over them as if it was such a miraculous, prodigious, awe-inspiring thing to have happened in Team Rocket history! No wonder Team Rocket is going nowhere! But not anymore: under my leadership Team Rocket will be fear by everyone: humans and pokémon alike."
"You foolish child!" Giovanni exclaimed, beside himself with anger; "your insolence and arrogance will be your fall. You know nothing of what it takes to be the boss and you will fail miserably!" Then from behind him came more Rockets to match Butch’s legion.
"Ha! You old fool!" Butch yelled, writhing in indignation to the term child. "The strong survive and you my friend are weak. When this whole affair is over, I will be the victor and you will be but a memory, long forgotten."
"Ah…you speak too soon," Giovanni said attempting to be calm, "for the battle has not yet begun."
"I don’t need that to tell me it is inevitable that you will loose."
"I hate cocky kids who think that just because they carry a gun, their victory is certain. Haven’t you known that many young brats have challenged my authority in the past and that they all are now six feet under? What makes you think this stunt is any different?"
"Funny…" Butch said; he had not considering this before, but he played it off as though it wasn’t a factor. "Old man, you should know the rules of the game by now."
"Treachery and deceit…yes."
"Vaguely…more like: never underestimate your opponent and if they are too cocky for your liking assume they have an ace up their sleeve." Butch smiled sinisterly, then laughed: "YOU are already DEAD!"
Giovanni’s eyes widened in complete rage.
It happened in an instance and no one could stop it: the battle begun. The Rockets and their adversaries clashed: fighting and shooting. Giovanni had ducked behind some control desks. Butch jumped behind Cassidy’s work desk. They both exchanged fire.
"This is insane!" Ash said. While Giovanni and Butch had spat witticisms, him, Misty, and Pikachu had managed to slowly weasel themselves from amongst the Rockets to get to their friends. James ushered everyone behind the machines, for things did not look promising. And he was right.
They all sat against the machines, facing the wall as bullets and lasers hit against it. Debris from the machine and wall flung here and there, but they were protected to some extent from it.
"So what do we do now?" Brock asked. There was a notable ambivalence between Ash and company: should they fight with Giovanni against Butch? If they did they would aid a person they disliked and whose ways they were against.
"We have to save Meowth," Jessie said.
"We have no choice but to fight," James added, emphasizing only him and his partner. He understood what Ash, Misty, and Brock thought, and this was his way of letting them know that they could leave now if they wanted.
"Then we’ll fight," Ash said, holding up his gun. "Besides…they’ll attack us regardless."
Brock and Misty agreed.
James nodded.
The trio moved over to their left so that they could get more room to shoot. Brock and Ash, were the first to start firing. Then Misty joined them. Once she got in her groove, she was a formidable opponent.
James turned and prodded his head up over the machine to view his surroundings. One of Butch’s men saw him and fired. James’s eyes widen as he was ducking back down. His hair flopped up and the bullet flew through it and hit against the wall. It all happened so fast that it appeared as though he had been shot.
"James are you okay?" Jessie asked almost frantically.
"Y-Yes," he said staring at the bullet in the wall, which had taken a few strands of his hair. He was so shocked that even the pain he felt in his side, when jerking back down, didn’t bother him.
"That asshole!" Jessie said angrily. She jumped up from her place and fired three shots in the direction in which the bullet came. James grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back down.
"Don’t do that! You don’t aim well when you’re angry!"
"But he tried to kill you!"
"A lot of people are going to try to kill us," James said, "don’t let you’re anger cloud your mind."
"What the hell is with you!" Jessie said heatedly. What he said made sense to her but she felt offended by his reaction, for he was not used to act thus. Shouldn’t he be flattered that she attempted to defend him?
James looked at her with annoyance, then turned away; he poked his head out again to see if anyone would be aiming at them. The guy that had shot at him had not been deterred and he shot again. James ducked quicker, then fired back several times. The shots were reciprocated and James fired again but only four times; he was out of bullets. He released the clip and loaded another one while his shots were being returned. He fired back. "Ugh! This is so inconvenient!" James complained. He didn’t like having to duck so much: it cramped his legs and didn’t give him much room to maneuver, plus his side wasn’t taking the twisting he had to do too easily.
Jessie noticed that he was in pain. She jumped up and continued the fire at James’s rival. She didn’t want him to do it on his own. But like James said, she didn’t aim well when she was angry.
He became upset with her. He fired back at the guy, shooting the gun out of his hand, then shot him in the leg, being careful not to hit any vital organs. "I told you not to shoot while you’re angry."
Taking the guy out irritated her: it just made his point truer and she didn’t like people telling her what to do. "What’s with you? I can shoot when ever I want!"
He just disregarded her comment and looked away towards where there was another machine. It was much bigger and could shield them adequately without them having to duck down at all. "We should go over there—we’d be better protected."
"Don’t ignore me!" she said, piqued.
He grabbed her by the wrist and hurried over to the other machine, shoving her back against it.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Jessie yelled. "What’s up with you pulling and pushing me here and there?"
"I’m only trying to protect you!"
"I didn’t ask for your protection!"
"Hey! You’ve always protected me and have always been the strong one. But when I saw you with a knife against your throat, I realized how much I was lacking in my duties to you. My world was about to crumble before my eyes and in that instant I felt truly helpless. I can’t allow that to happen again. You mean too much to me and I can’t loose you, Jessica—I love you too much."
Tears were forming in her eyes as he finished talking. "James…" she said bitterly, then she did something that shocked both of them, though she concealed her reaction by looking at him with anger.
Slowly he touched his stinging check as he turned and stared at her in heartrending dismay, trying to fight back tears. It wasn’t so much the act that was shocking, more so that the intensity of the situation didn’t warrant it and he felt the blow more profoundly.
"Why do you reveal your true feelings to me now when we’re faced with danger, not knowing if we’ll survive?"
James felt humiliated. A galling feeling tightened around his heart. He couldn’t breathe as he thought he might die, but in an instant all pain was relieved when the touch of her soft lips pressed against his in a passionate kiss. A tear fell from his eye. His gun dropped to the floor as he enveloped her in his arms.
She had never been loved and didn’t know how to react. She didn’t know how to express her feelings to him. She just hoped that this was enough for him to understand her. And it was.
A smashing sound captured their attention, prompting them to break from their embrace. A laser had hit the side of the machine and sparks were flying from it. They jumped back. James reached for his gun but realized it wasn’t there. He looked over to where the sparks were flinging from and saw it lying near. He smirked sheepishly then ducked down as he shielded his face from the sparks, attempting to reach his gun. Sparks flung at him and he flinched. He continued to reach for his gun: his fingertips touched it; he tried to grip it but the sparks were raging about. "Ah, the hell with it!" he said, grabbing the gun, not caring if the sparks hit him.
Jessie stared at him with a look of awe in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that he loves her. The thought of them kissing now made her blush. James turned to her. She was staring up at him. He stared back at her, into her abyssal blue eyes. He could get lost in them forever. Her parted lips were inviting and he wanted to continue their kiss. But there was a war going on around them. There were cries and yelling and screaming. Bullets flung here and there, ricocheting off machines and walls and hitting anything; lasers zapping this, that, and the other: chaos and confusion. Yet all Jessie and James could think about was each other. Nothing existed around them but themselves.
For this brief moment, they forgot about everything around them. Then suddenly they both said: "we’ve got to save Meowth." They awkwardly giggled. It would have been nice to continue on but they couldn’t do so. They went over to the other side of the huge machine and peered out. Hardly anyone was fighting at this end—they were close to the back of the lab (most of the fighting was going on at the front of it).
"Are you ready to give up?" Giovanni called from behind a machine.
"Never!" Butch retorted.
"Seems like most of your men are dying."
"Ha!" Butch exclaimed.
"We are loosing men," Cassidy whispered.
"Yes, but so is he," Butch whispered back.
"At this rate, we won’t have much of Team Rocket to take over."
"Don’t you think I realize that!"
"Well we have to act now."
Butch realized this and decided that since everyone was running out of ammunition it was about time he got down to business.
"Giovanni, are you dead yet?" His question was with exaggerated sarcasm and peeved the boss immensely.
"Not in the least!"
"Well then… since we’re not getting anywhere with this and only succeeding in gaining casualties, perhaps we should settle this with a pokémon battle."
"Is this some sort of joke?"
"Does it appear to be?"
"Very well then…let’s battle—but first you’ll have to order your men to cease firing."
"As do you."
"Of course," Giovanni said. Then with a wave of his hand and a motion by Butch all the fighting and shooting stopped. There was a brief moment of unequivocal silence.
Simultaneously, Giovanni and Butch came out from their hiding places. Everyone watched in anxiety. What would happen next? Would they really have a pokémon battle or was this some sort of trick?
"We battle with four pokémon each."
"Fine," Giovanni said.
Butch took out his controller and pressed a button. One of the capsules opened and out came a raticate. It was so huge and its claws and fangs extended more that it was used to. "I choose Raticate."
A raticate, ha! I don’t see how he expects to beat me with that even if it is bigger. Giovanni took out a pokéball and threw it. Cloyster appeared ready for battle. "I choose cloyster."
Butch looked too confident. Giovanni didn’t like this at all. He suspected Butch to have some plan or some scheme that would give him an edge; however, he had no idea of what Butch and Cassidy really planned for him.
Butch stood there with a devious smirk on his face. He then commanded his pokémon to attack.
Ash, Misty, and Brock watched in anticipation. With cloyster’s hard shell no matter how long raticates claws and fangs were they stood no chance. But raticate charged regardless. Ash commented that his attacks would be vain. They watched on.
It was relatively expected that raticate’s tail whip attack and tackle attack couldn’t do any harm. However, in awe, they saw raticate pound on cloyster, at first not doing any damage, but then it began to dent the hard shell.
Giovanni grew wide-eyed.
Butch smirked contentedly.
"No way!" The trio couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Soon, cloyster was severely battered. Giovanni commanded it to attack and it did but with little success. Raticate was noticeably stronger.
"His pokémon is so much more stronger!" Misty said in disbelief.
"That’s because raticate’s DNA was altered," Brock informed.
Ash and Misty pulled their glance away from the fight long enough to stare at him.
"What? That’s impossible," Misty said.
"Not likely…remember the Mewtwo incident," Brock replied.
"But how?" Ash said. "This isn’t a new pokémon."
Brock then explained all of what Cassidy had told him.
"He’s cheating," Ash said peeved.
The battle raged on. Giovanni recalled his cloyster then took out persian. Persian was his best pokémon and it just could not fail.
Misty looked around. "I wonder where Jessie and James are."
Far at the back of the huge lab, our unspoken heroes crept around to where Meowth was still confined. They had encountered several enemies and had defended themselves against them. Now they were attempting to free Meowth. They tried to figure out how to release him. James searched for some sort of switch or button to the capsule that would open it. Jessie looked as well but she grew impatient and just wanted to crack the glass open.
"What are you doing here?"
Jessie and James looked up. Cassidy had come from behind.
"What does it look like?" Jessie retorted, piqued by such a stupid question.
"Better show some respect to your future boss, bitch!"
"Uh!" Jessie uttered appalled. "Who the hell are you calling bitch!" And she charged at her, knocking her back. Cassidy hit the wall but pushed back. They struggled in their scuffle, each pulling the other’s hair and punching and kicking. They looked so very dangerous, like two archenemies going at it. Cassidy grabbed Jessie by her jacket collar and flung her across a table. She crashed into flasks, pilfering paper with her as she came down on the hard floor.
"Ugh!" Jessie shouted in pain. James proceeded to come to her aid, but when he saw her expression become enraged he decided to not get in her way. She pulled off her gloves so she could take off her jacket. She did not want Cassidy to be able to do that to her again and she wanted to fight at ease. She ensued to get up.
Cassidy cautiously came around the table to see where her foe had landed but Jessie caught her off guard with an abrupt attack. In an instance Cassidy was backed against a machine. Jessie punched her in the stomach, smacked her across the face several times, and then proceeded to claw her nails into her face, but her wrist were caught midway.
"Pathetic trash!" Cassidy yelled, with blood trickling from her mouth, "only you would fight dirty!"
"Oh, what’s wrong?" Jessie said with exaggerated sympathy, "can’t handle a real fight? I thought you of all people were used to fighting dirty!"
"Ha! Only lowlifes do that!"
"Then perhaps I can learn a lot from you, queen bitch!"
"Scank!" Cassidy yelled as she attempted to fling Jessie’s wrist away, but one came back with a vengeance, scratching her across the face. "Ahh!" Cassidy welled, covering her face instantaneously as she bent down. She looked at her hands. Specks of blood decorated her gloves. Enraged, she had not been but now she was irreversibly provoked into fury. "You’ll pay for this, I swear!" When she gained her height, she grabbed Jessie by the shoulders and kneed her in the stomach—not once, not even twice, but three times. Jessie slowly leaned forward with evident pain, then fell to the floor.
"Jess!" James exclaimed. He had been watching the whole fight, too afraid to intervene for he might end up as a punching bag. And, he thought Jessie too much of a tough girl to need his meager assistance anyway. He now hastily advanced towards her.
"Don’t even try it!" Cassidy commanded, whipping out her controller and holding it up as if it was a determinant of Jessie and his fate. James stopped unsure of what she was about to do. "Now," Cassidy said looking down at Jessie, "you’ll know the pain you have caused me." She pressed a button. The capsule that contained Meowth opened. Steam like vapor came out of it. Meowth’s eyes opened. He stepped out. "Meowth! Get him! They’re the ones who rated you out to the boss!"
Meowth jumped from the platform and looked at James. He stared back at Meowth, uncertain if he would listen to Cassidy. He couldn’t. We’re friends. But that serum had done something to him and he could not think straight. He looked noticeably different and angry. Since Meowth had gotten much bigger he looked very intimidating. He extended his arms. His claws were longer than before, much longer, and the foam at his mouth made him look rabid. Meowth roared like a lion then rushed at James. Completely shocked, James just stood there frozen with fright as Meowth came closer.
"Hey! Ugly furball!"
Meowth desisted his pace and looked awry.
James looked in the direction of the voice.
"Yea, you!" Jessie proceeded, "the most pathetic member of our group! I’d like to see what you can do, you good for nothing looser!" It so happened that she knocked out Cassidy and then ran hither.
Meowth became angrier, showing more of his fangs and then he charged at Jessie.
James was shock that she would put herself in his position and watched in sheer dread. "What? No!" he exclaimed helplessly, desperately hoping Meowth wouldn’t hurt her. But he came closer to her. She stood firm, looking fearless James grabbed his gun and aimed at Meowth, beside himself with anxiety, attempting to pull the trigger only in the instance that Meowth was inches from Jessie did her expression utter fear. Meowth barreled down over her, his claws ripping into her. She screamed. The momentum thrust her back and they both fell hard on the floor, tumbling violently.
When they came to a stopped, they laid there. James watched in horror. "Jess…" he whispered breathlessly, stepping forward. He waited a moment fearfully. Meowth seemingly moved a bit. He then struggled to get up, then rolled over with swirls in his eyes and an empty syringe stuck in his chest. He was out cold. Jessie struggled to sit up. James ran to her.
"Are you alright?" he asked frantically, as he helped her sit up straight.
"I’m fine." But blood was seeping from her arms and at her side. Meowth’s claws had gone deep into her.
"You’re bleeding!" he stated with a squeak in his startled voice.
"It’s nothing," she said a bit dazed.
"We’ve got to stop it!" he said pulling off his gloves then grabbing his shirt and pulled it off as well. The blood, which seemed to be not much, was now becoming a lot. He took out a knife and slashed off a sleeve and put it around her left arm tying it into a knot. "I’m sorry but this will hurt," he told her. She closed her eyes. He pulled hard. Her face contorted with a pained expression as she leaned on his shoulder. Then she let out a scream. "I’m so sorry," he apologized.
"That hurts!"
"This will hurt even more."
Jessie opened her eyes and looked up. They widened and she attempted to back away. Her frightened reaction prompted fear in James. He slowly turned around to meet the inevitable. But when he saw the barrel of a gun staring back at him, he freaked. Cassidy smirked with pleasure as her adversaries cowered in fear.
"Do you think you’d get away with this?" she said holding her hand at her cheek, which was very red. Her lips posed a cut and part of her face had three scratches going diagonally over her eye. Her hair was horribly disheveled and he clothes were a mess. "You thought you would win, but now look at you. Pathetic Jessie and James at the mercy of Cassidy—who would have thought? But don’t fret Jess, I won’t hurt you, just your boyfriend."
Jessie was shocked. What was this bitch about? "But he didn’t do anything to you!"
"That’s right, at least not really," Cassidy said, "but killing him would make you miserable."
"What?!" Jessie said as her heart sank. "No, don’t hurt him!" Tears formed in her eyes but she attempted to not let them fall. She was in no position to help him. She felt so weak with all of the fighting: she was badly bruised, and her right arm and side was beginning to feel numb with all the blood lose.
"Don’t worry, this will be quick."
Cassidy released the safety on the gun. Then smirked with genuine delight as a tear streamed down Jessie’s cheek. She pulled the trigger ever so slightly. Jessie couldn’t bear to watch. James was cringing fearfully with eyes shut tight. The trigger was pulled back slowly. The room sounded with the echo of gunshot.
Tears flowed down Jessie’s eyes. Her heart jerked with profuse agony. She began to sob, horrified—too horrified to open her eyes; but she forced them open.
What’s this? Her partner has not yet departed: he still cringed from fear.
Cassidy lay on the floor with her gun a few inches away. Jessie looked around. A gun seeping smoke rested in Brock’s hands. Jessie couldn’t believe her eyes. Brock saved James’s life! James is still alive!
Not knowing if he was dead or alive, James did not want to open his eyes, fearful he would not be with Jessie; but when he heard sobbing he opted to do so. It wasn’t long before he realized what had happened. He sighed almost dizzy with the thought of his presumed expiration. He turned to Jessie, happy to be alive, but she had collapsed on the floor.
"Jess!" James said dreadfully. She had lost a lot of blood: her skirt stained with most of it.
Brock rushed over. "We’ve got to get her to the hospital!"
"Hahaha!" Butch laughed. "Down to your last pokémon and I have only just used one."
Giovanni’s persian had been beaten quicker than cloyster. It was a horrible shock to see his most beloved pokémon stumble to the floor in defeat. It was even more shocking to see nidoran go down too. Now he only had tentacruel.
"You’re cheating!"
"Is that the best you can say? You’re sounding like Jessie and James."
"Obviously, you did something to your pokémon."
"Well duh, if one sees it come out of a capsule, I’d think they’d assume an experiment had taken place…but I guess you’re too smart to come up with that."
"The insolence!" Giovanni said enraged. He took out his gun and aimed at raticate.
"Hey!"
Giovanni fired. "Now let’s see how tough it is! Hahahhaahaha!"
"I’ll show you tough!" Butch said drawing his gun and shooting at tentacruel.
Giovanni’s eyes widened. Then him and Butch simultaneously pointed their guns at each other.
Ash and Misty rushed over to Brock and James.
"The fight," said Ash, "between Giovanni and Butch is getting out of—what happened to Jessie?"
"Meowth attacked her," James said picking her up.
"Yea, we’ve got to get her help," Brock said.
"We’ve got to get out of here," Misty said, "things don’t look so good."
"Yeah, I think Butch and your boss are going to fight to the death."
"Then we should go now," James said.
"Come Ash, help me carry Meowth," Brock said.
"But you say he attacked Jessie," Ash assessed.
"She gave him the antidote in the process—he’ll be alright soon," James said.
Ash nodded his head. Brock and him picked up the over grown cat pokémon and followed James and Misty out of the lab.
~~
Morning had fell when they rushed over to the nearest hospital. Jessie lost much blood but it wasn’t anything that a blood transfusion couldn’t fix, although her accumulated exhaustion had played a part in her fainting. The wounds in her arms were rather deep and they would take a lot of time to heal, but the wound in her side was only a flesh wound and non of her vital organ had been punctured. And a few bruises here and there posed no threat as well.
Ash, Misty, and Brock were out in the waiting room tending to Meowth. He had shrunk back down to his normal size and his teeth and claws also had retracted.
As soon as they had gotten away from Team Rocket Headquarters, they debated with James on whether or not to call the authorities. Initially, it would not have bothered him since they were long gone from the place, but his loyalty to Team Rocket and Giovanni bothered him. Since finding out that Butch and Cassidy had frames them, this took away his anger towards the Boss. So what was the verdict? It was not like he hadn’t considered going back to Team Rocket—he just couldn’t betray Giovanni.
Jessie lay asleep in bed. James sat at her side. She looked so peaceful…so safe. He was very thankful that she was well. He was also very thankful to Brock—he could never have imaged him to kill at point blank. But Brock saved his life and he owed him much.
*Sigh*
"Huh?" James said looking over at Jessie. She was blinking her eyes open. "Jess!"
She looked up at him. "James…"
"How are you feeling," he asked taking her hands up in his.
"Very sore…with aches and pains…and a headache."
"Aww."
"But, I’ll be fine I guess," she uttered. She looked around her and thought about what had transpired. Then she hastily sat up and said: "what happened?" James pressed his hand gently on her shoulder to make her lay back down.
"Well, nothing really—at least that we know," James said, "after Cassidy was shot, we pretty much left—Giovanni and Butch were at each other’s throats. We have no clue of the outcome except that it is probably horrible." He paused for a moment unsure of how to tell her; but then looking away, he added slowly: "…we called the police—I know you may think it was a big mistake (now looking at her pleadingly) but so many people were getting killed needlessly—who knows what’s going on now."
"What!" Jessie said surprised.
"I know this means we have betrayed Team Rocket but it was the best thing to do—please don’t be angry."
"What? I can’t believe you!" Jessie said peeved. "To think, you would believe I’d be angry with you for that."
"What? You mean you don’t mind that I did that."
"No…not at all—this was extreme James."
"But Team Rocket is our home…we…we won’t be able to go back."
She sighed dejectedly realizing this was an unequivocal fact. What would they do? Maybe it was time they moved on. But where would we go? We have no other home. Well actually, James does. Would he want to go back there? No! He couldn’t possibly!
"Jessica," James said feeling guilty for making her worry, "are you okay?"
"So what do we do now?"
"I don’t know," he said gently, "but no matter what happens or where we go it doesn’t matter as long as I have you by my side."
She blushed. "Oh, James…"
He leaned down and kissed her, holding her hands tightly. She kissed back.
"Oh, how cute."
They turned around slightly with their lips still attached. Ash and company had walked in. Brock carried Meowth, who woke up not too long ago. He jumped down from his arms and ran over to his friends, plopping himself on the bed. They ceased kissing and wrapped Meowth up in their arms affectionately.
"It’s about time youse two got tageda."
James giggled in his silly way. Jessie followed suit unable to contain her contentment.
