His only friend was his pet Growlithe, because his parents only cared about themselves, and they wanted him to be engaged to Jessibell, a girl that looked similar to Jessie(not in Jessie's eyes though...). She tortured James, and so James ran away. He went into Pokémon Tech, and there he met Jessie. They both flunked. Then they joined Team Rocket.
