Chapter Two of "Thin Red Line"

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Shigeru stared up into the night sky, a light smirk playing on his face. He had given his cheerleaders the slip again; recently, he just hadn't been able to sleep with them around.

"Satoshi," he breathed. He had seen the other boy only a few days ago, and what an experience it had been. And the look on Satoshi's face when he kissed his forehead... it had been so priceless.

Shigeru streched is body out as far as it could reach, hearing a few pops as he relaxed. Now settled in for the night, he pulled a cover over himself and slipped into sleep.

Shigeru stood at the end of the aisle, waiting for his spouse to-be to make his appearance. The cerimony was very simple, with only a handful of guests. Satoshi had wanted it to be that way, and Shigeru had easily given in to the request. Very nervous, Shigeru uneasily played with a corner of the jacket of his black suit, then realized what he was doing and stopped. Thankfully, it didn't seem anyone had noticed.

Suddenly, the "Wedding March" music began to play, and Shigeru snapped to attention. At the end of the room, a door swung open and Satoshi stepped through, looking twice as edgy as Shigeru and, in Shigeru's opinion, positively beautiful in a white suit barrowed for the occasion.

The cerimony was as quick as planed, with no mistakes. Afterwards, the newly joined couple made their way out through the small crowd of guests. Outside the church, a few news reporters stood. One came up to Shigeru.

"Ookido-hanase, can you tell me why you and pokemon master Ha Satoshi have just gotten married? Aren't you afraid that this will put you and your new husband in a bad light with the public?"

Shigeru glared at the woman, but she held her ground. Finally, Shigeru replied, "we got married because we love each other. Anything else is not important." Shigeru glared at the rest of the reporters, daring them to ask anything. Most of them took a step back. The couple made their way to their car.

Once inside, Satoshi giggled.

"What's so funny, koi?" Shigeru asked gently.

"It's just the way you handled those reporters. The look on their faces..." Satoshi began to laugh again.

Shigeru pulled Satoshi to him and gave him a deep kiss. "If you say so."

Satoshi gave Shigeru a little smile. "Come on," he urged, "let's get out of here so we can be alone."

*~*~*~*~*~*

Shigeru awoke with a start, Satoshi's words still on his mind. The night was just beginning to fade into dawn, the sky a deep shade of purple. He sat up and watched as the sun rose.

That dream... it had been so real, as if he had really been with Satoshi. Maybe it was real. Maybe it was a reality that had yet to be realized... Shigeru knew he had to find Satoshi again, and soon. Their accidental meetings were too few and far between.

The dream was a reality Ookido Shigeru was going to make real, some day.
