"MATRIX CITY: 1 MILE."
You think to yourself and you finally recall that Matrix City is renowned for being an incredibly advanced technological metropolis. Also recalling that Matrix City is well known for its competetive Pokémon community, you decide that it will be worth a visit.
You call your Pokémon back into their PokéBalls and hike the one mile necessary to reach the city. As you are walking along, you come across a field to your left.
As you reach the city's outskirts, you see someone riding a magnificent motorcycle, heading straight at you! As it all seems so sudden, you completely freeze in your tracks like a deer. Your only reflex is to put your arms in front of you as if to shield yourself.
Expecting an impact that doesn't happen, you quickly look up to see that the person has gotten off the motorcycle to talk to you. It appears that the rider is, in fact, a woman about the age of 25, you'd guess. You realize this as she takes off her helmet and speaks to you,
"You're a Pokémon trainer, correct?"
"I sure am," you stammer.
"Welcome to Matrix City. My name is Wendy, and I was told a new trainer would be arriving in the City. If you don't mind, I--"
You immediately cut her off and ask her in a skeptical, surprised manner, "Wait, you said you knew I was arriving? How could you know that?"
"Huh? I meant to say, I saw you walking on the road a couple of miles back, that's all," she mutters nervously, "what I meant to ask you was, would like to have a Pokémon battle with me? I know you just got here, but I've been busy lately, and haven't had many battles during that time. I just want to battle to get back on track."
Still a little curious about the woman's tone, you try to mutter out excuses to get out of the battle. "Well I, uh. You see... It's just..."
She laughs whole-heartedly as she says, "I completely understand. You'll probably want to give your Pokémon a rest for now. You can head to the Pokémon Center and take a little break, or you can battle me."
Will you battle Wendy now?
Or do you want to check your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center?
As you decide to forget about Wendy for now, you cannot help but think about the disturbing fact that she knew you were coming. You start to think things through as you see an empty back road and start walking down it. As you turn the corner, you see a shadow move out of the corner of your eye. Since you were suspecting that you were being watched from the moment you arrived in town, you think that it is the best solution to go on and investigate what it was.
You finally reach where the shadow was, only to realize that the building you stand before is an overly large, run-down structure. This surprises you because you were under the impression that this was a wealthy city. Nonetheless, you work up your nerve to enter through the door. Inside, you hear loud cackles and laughs.
"I hope... there aren't any... Ghost Pokémon in this place."
You hope that is the case, while in the back of your mind, you know very well that that is probably what it is. However, you continue on, as you are determined to get to the bottom of your so-called "expected arrival" in town.
