Careless

Part Four - Holding The Truth

This story rearranges some things in the PS storyline. In this, Red and Green didn't meet up in Tamamushi like the did in Part 2 #2... Green wasn't even *around* the City. IE, someone doesn't have a Porygon... Deal with it. ^_^; I guess that's all that I majorilly screw with... Remember, for those who base your knowledge of PS on Pokemon Adventures, Red is the hero, Green is his rival, and Blue is the scary girl... ^^

These characters are not mine, and neither is Pokemon in general. So please don't think I'm doing this for any reason beyond fun and entertainment purposes...

All he can do is stare at me. I honestly don't think he knows how to answer what I just asked. But really, should it be that hard of a question? Why *is* he blushing anyway...? I wish he'd just answer.

But really, I don't know why I'm blushing either, so I guess that forcing him would be kind of mean since I can't answer either...

He's really cute when he blushes. I wonder if he knows that...

My train of thought crashes and I'm blushing harder. "Red!" He snaps. "What the hell is going on?!"

I guess the truth is the best way to go. I mean, if I don't tell him, it'll just eat and eat at me and I won't be able to take it anymore. "You're cute when you blush."

He blinks and stares at me. "What did you say?"

"You heard what I said, Green!" I knew that was a bad idea... but at least I told him, and that's really the hardest part. I sigh and look down. "Can't we just order something to eat and talk about this later?"

He seems to like that idea because he flips through his menu. The waitress shows up and we order and I sigh in such a dejected way. "I'm sorry." I tell him, as we wait.

"For what?" he asks, not looking at me. I sigh. Not this again...

"You know why, Green. I shouldn't have said that..."

"Well, you're always cute, so I guess I'm allowed to be too, right?"

All I can do is stare at him and blink. A lot. "What did you say?"

"Now you're playing my game... You heard what I said, Red."

I did. And I can't believe it. So we sit in silence until the food arrives, and through out the meal nothing goes on but eating. I need to get outside, and soon... he can't be serious!

But he's *Green*... and I know that he is. Serious, that is. Of course he's Green...

You know, fifteen minutes ago the biggest thing was that his Grandfather is all right... yet Roketto Dan still for some reason wants me dead... I don't even know what I did to them.

Am I some sort of threat?

Maybe I am...

We finish our meal and Green pays, and I follow him outside, hands in my pocket and the brim of my hat pulled low. "You look so dejected..." He says and I look up at him. The sun's bright on his hair...

"This is just awkward, that's all, Green..." I say and I end up taking off my hat and running a hand through my hair. All he can do is nod, and then he looks away.

"I think I'm going to head back to Masara Town... would you like to come with me?"

I can't believe he's asking *me* to go with *him*... All I can do is nod. I mean... I really don't know what I mean.

"It's a long journey, though." He grinds the heel of his boot into the dirt. "And we can't shirk our duties with the Pokedex... so it's not gonna be all fun and games..."

He looks up at me and his eyes look so very intense.

"But if you'd like to come with me, I'd love to have you."

Words... I'm sure I should say something... So I do. "It sounds like fun, Green. I'd love to."

He smiles so very rarely. But when he does... he isn't just cute, he's *beautiful*... One day I'll have to tell him that.

I think I'm going to hold it in for the time being...

"Come on, let's go to the Pokemon Centre and then hit the mart, we need to prepare for the first leg of our journey together." I nod and follow after him. I don't think I've ever been this... happy...

Just being able to be near him like this...

He's changed since I met him. Or maybe he's just letting me see the real him...

~~~~~
I was right, ya know. He is serious. He always is. Even when he's smiling... he's completely serious.
I think that I realise this later that night... when he's asleep in the camp that we built. His face looks so peacefeul when he's asleep, I could almost reach out and touch him... But instead, I call out Pika. I need to talk...
"Pii?" She asks, glancing and Green.
"We're traveling with him now. Isn't that cool?" I ask with a smile.
"Kachu pi pikapi... pikachu?"
"Yeah, he was mean before... but he's really a nice guy. I always knew he was..."
She rolls her little black eyes. "Chaa..."
"Okay, okay... but I *had* hoped..."
She nods. "Pika!"
"I guess we should go to sleep, huh?"
She nods again. But I'm not tired. But that doesn't keep me from lying down, and attempting to close my eyes. Pikachu snuggles at my side and I think I am falling asleep.
Yeah, one day I think I have a lot to tell him... but for the time being I'm just going to be holding the truth... And I think that's the best way for it to go.
