The Abolition part 2
The Abolition part 2

Disclaimer – Nope, still don’t own. A/N – A BIG old AU for you. Kind of a mix between Pokemon, Shaman King and er, Logan’s Run. But I hope it won’t be too awful >.<

“No...What did you...do to him?” Ash couldn’t move. All he could do was stare. The leader made no attempt to reply, just avoided the question.
“I suggest you hurry up, boy.”
“I-I can’t fight him! You know that!”
“Then leave, I’m not making you stay!”
But I can’t leave him either, thought Ash. So, practically forcing him self, he let Pikachu onto the top of the Joiner and walked into it.

“Giovanni.”
“Hmm? What is it?” The leader turned to the creature beside him.
“I sense great power in that boy. You have...upset him, by using his love.”
“Are you saying you cannot beat him?”
“No, but it will be hard, especially as I am not fighting physically myself.”
“I need to see what you can do, Mewtwo. You must be strong, or I will just have to dispose of you.”
“...Yes, Giovanni.”
* * *

“I’m ready!”
“Good. Let’s go.” He snapped his fingers and both the cat pokemon and the boy began to glow purple. Mewtwo didn’t convey all his energy to Gary at first; he didn’t want to get tired out too quickly. Ash’s plan was to knock Gary out, without hurting him too much. Mewtwo didn’t care whether Ash died or not.
Ash reluctantly began to move forward, but didn’t have the chance to get very far before Gary threw his arms up and sent out an awesome psychic blow that send Ash crashing against the far wall. He fell to the ground and rubbed his sore side. But he wasn’t going to give up that easily. He lay still, pretending to be unconscious, and Gary took a slow step towards him. Ash moved his hand to the ground, trying not to be noticed, and sent a series of shocks along the cold floor. Gary flinched, but carried on coming at him. When they were about 2 metres apart, Gary stopped and Ash got up.
“I don’t want to do this to you, Gary...Don’t make me do it.” Ash’s breathing was slightly laboured. Gary stuck out his arm again, and Ash braced himself of an attack. But it never came.
Ash felt something brush against him, and opened his eyes. Gary was hugging him gently.
“You’re back...” Ash whispered. He felt weak, and they both collapsed onto the floor. Gary hands were still warm from the psychic blasts. In fact, Ash noticed, they didn’t seem to be cooling down...They seemed to be getting hotter...and hotter and-
“Yah!” Ash cried and threw his smoking jacket to the ground. Gary was getting up, his face unreadable, his hands licked with flame. “You’re still...!”
* * *

“Hmm, you almost had me fooled for a second.”
“Battling isn’t just about fighting; it’s about knowing your opponent’s weaknesses.”
“...Very good, very good indeed...”
Gary began powering up a fire spin at an amazing speed, shooting each fireball round Ash in a huge circle, then making them enclose on him. Without thinking, Ash covered himself in electric charge, luckily deflecting the fire before it burned him. Then something happened. First, Mewtwo was annoyed. Making Gary annoyed. He decided to start getting out the big guns. Whilst still firing fireballs at Ash, preventing him from attacking properly, he began to build up a huge amount of psychic energy. Second, before he could even think about firing the attack, Gary doubled over in pain, dropping to the ground in a writhing ball. Mewtwo grabbed it’s head and did the same, although managing to control his pain better. The fight forgotten, Ash rushed to Gary side.
“What’s wrong?! What’s happening to you?!” Ash cried. He tried to put his hand on Gary’s shoulder, but the boy only screamed and tried to get away, falling over with the intense pain. Ash jerked back, his eye’s widening. Gary was scorching.
* * *

“Mewtwo! Answer me damnit! What’s going on?!”
“Nn...The boy’s Arcanine! It’s...shifting!”
Giovanni froze. It couldn’t be...He grabbed the link cable from Mewtwo’s armour and yanked it out. The pokemon fell to the floor, gasping for air, but the after effects were still happening. Mewtwo shrieked in agony and flew off the platform and shot through the roof of the building. Which began to crumble.

Ash grabbed Gary, causing him scream even more, and ran out of the collapsing building. He heaved the door open (which is not easy with a struggling boy in your arms) and practically fell through them. Shouting to Brock and Misty to follow him, he ran as far away as he could before his legs buckled beneath him and he crashed to the ground. Within a few minutes all that was left of the Viridian City Gym was a pile of rubble and a cloud of dust.
Ash crawled over to Gary, who was obviously still hurting, but now only moaning quietly. Ash turned him over as gently as he could, and lifted his shirt up.
“No...” He stared at the pokeballs on Gary’s belt. “He was short linked...But he can’t have been, not with that kind of power.” He pulled the link cable out of the pokeball then noticed it was shaking violently. He called to Misty to take a look at it, then turned back to Gary. He held him tightly with trembling hands and let Gary cry on his shoulder. Ash stroked his hair tenderly.
“It’ll be alright now I promise.” Misty crouched by him.
“Ash, it’s Arcanine...” She whispered. “I-It’s shifting.”
