Kit Fisto: The Next Obi-Wan?
Here we see Jedi Fisto bravely leading disposable troops into the battle of Geonosis
Corusant - The lesser known Jedi Knight Kit Fisto has recently found himself the recipient of fame and fortune, all thanks to his appearance in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones. His prowess with a lightsaber and his incredible wit are sparking a huge debate amongst Jedi experts. Some say he is nothing buy a 2-bit player, while others strongly contend that Fisto has the potential to become a Jedi Master on par with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and maybe even the great Yoda himself.
"I never saw this coming," admits Fisto. "I just trained hard to be a good Jedi- you know, with the force and what not- and I just never expected this kind of a reaction. I felt that I was just doing what any of the rest of the Jedi would have done."
Many experts, however, disagree with Fisto's seemingly humble confessions.
"I thought his performance with his saber and his use of the force were thorougly excellent," said one Jedi expert, Henry Bearer. "He is definitely on his way to becoming one of the greatest Jedi ever...maybe better than Vader."
Another expert, Kevin Grenard, agrees with Bearer's sentiments.
"Fisto not only will be one of the greatest, he already is one. I think that out of the whole Jedi order, probably only Mace or Yoda could even put up a fight against him. Vader wouldn't even stand a chance against him. For Vader to kill Kit, Vader would probably have to sneak up on him while Kit was on the shitter or something. Even then, Fisto could probably take him, pants down and all."
Kit's surging popularity is evidenced by the wave of merchandise that has been produced in his honor. He now has his own action figure, something usually reserved for the big time players, hinting that Fisto is a cut above most of the rest of the Jedi order. His trademark green lightsaber is also available at retail, sighting a recognition of Fisto's popularity and rank.
"I can't say that it isn't all wonderful," divulged Fisto. "It is great to have the people support me in my duty as a Jedi. I know that I just want to work hard and be the best I can. As far as surpassing Master Windu or Yoda, that's not something I am thinking too much about. I just need to focus right now, so I can get more screen time in Episode III."
Despite his wide popularity with the general public, there are some critics of Fisto's abilities. Some experts are saying that he's not all he's cracked up to be.
"I think he sucks," commented Ted Bennigan. "Kit Fisto couldn't hurt a fly. He's all show and no substance. All he ever did was push over a couple robots using simple force techniques. And he was so proud of that, too. He was all smiles, because he knows how weak he is. Anakin had more power than that when he was 5 years old. I can't wait until Vader rips him a new one in the next film."
Brian Cantrell, a journalist and Jedi critic, shared Bennigan's opinions.
"Fisto is just a little bastard. I mean, look at him. He looks like a walking green turd. I'm surprised he didn't die on Geonosis. I bet Yoda and Mace just keep him around for shits and giggles. It's not even worth Vader's time to kill that shithead. Actually, I bet Vader doesn't even have to kill him in the next film. Fisto probably just decapitates himself while practicing his lightsaber techniques."
Despite the controversy and harsh criticism, Fisto says he will choose to stay on his beaten path.
"I've been a Jedi for as long as I can remember. I'm not going to just change myself now- not for the fans, and not for the critics. I'm just going to keep fighting for justice in the universe."
Questioned about his rumored death at the hands of Lord Vader, Fisto seemed puzzled.
"Who is this Vader character? Wait...I'm supposed to die?!"
"Clouded your future is," added Yoda, smiling.
