Most of us think that we know Brit, but this is as close as we'll come. The little bits of information the media decides to share with us. We may never meet Britney Spears, but we can say we know a little. "A little bit goes a long way..."

JUST THE BEGINNING.
Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in Kentwood, LA. At a very young age Britney took gymnastics and dance classes. Although winning many awards for her gymnastic abilities, she decided to leave gynastics and concentrate on her dancing. Little did she know that it would come in handy in her future. At the age of 8, Britney tried out for Disney's THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. She made it all the way to the finals but didn't make the show because they told her it was too young.
DOWN BUT NOT OUT.
Not making MMC may have been a blessing in disguise. A producer of the show spotted Britney's talent right away and set her up with an agent. So Britney and the rest of her family set off to New York. Britney spent the next few years performing in off-broadway plays and attending the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. From there Britney earned a spot on TV's Star Search. By this time, she decided to try again for The Mickey Mouse Club, and this time she didn't leave without getting the gig.
SAYING GOODBYE.
After two seasons, in 1994, MMC was cancelled and it was back to Kentwood for Miss Britney. After doing "normal" things for a year Britney got the itch to go back to the show biz business. And why not? She was already ahead of the game with talent and experience.
THE REAL DEAL.
At 15, Britney went back to NYC with her mom Lynn. At that time, manger and friend, Larry Randolph gave Britney's demo tape to Jive Records. Britney was quickly snatched up by Jive...and well, you know what happened from there.
DREAM WORLD.
Baby...One More Time has sold over 11 million copies and with Oops! I Did It Again debuting at #1, and breaking records Brit's sure to be around for some time to come.
