Britney Spears:  Britney
The Track-by-Track Review from Brit*s World

  1. I'm A Slave 4 U - It's a great dance track.  This song will forever remind me of the night that my friends Kate and Lorrie kept rewinding and kept rewinding the Rosie performance just to learn the dance.  HeHe.  All worth it, all worth it.
  2. Overprotected - Good message and I think very autobiographical.  "I need time, I need joy, I need space, I need....me"  Isn't this what everybody wants?  Although she's grown into her lyrics, I think everyone can relate.  At least a little.
  3. Lonely - Been there, done that, huh?  Yeah, so has she so don't mess with her.  Ya listening, Justin?
  4. I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman - Sweet ballad.  I think it might be the theme song of a lot of girls.  Most of us want to grow up fast, then once we get there, we want to go back.  Call it typical of a woman to change her mind!
  5. Boys - My very favorite track!  I don't know what it is about it, but it just makes my want to get up, dance and belt it out like there's no tomorrow!!  When I'm asked what my favorite track is, I always say "I Like Boys!"  They look at me strangely, but then they get it.  ;-)  "Can't live with 'em, Can't live without 'em!"  Amen sister!
  6. Anticipating - It's that song on the album that my friends and I will BLAST in the car.  I can tell already.  Britney is a permanent staple in my car, this is just another song to add to the playlist.
  7. I Love Rock N' Roll - All I think of when I hear this song is my friend, Lorrie.  We were singing it walking up and down the streets of State college three days before the album release.  So glad someone finally remade this song.  Very cool, very cool.
  8. Cinderella - Yet another girl power song.  Go figure.  Anyway, he treated her bad, he got the boot.  Good call.
  9. Let Me Be - I loved this song on the "On The Line" soundtrack, so naturally I still like it.  I love power anthems that put girls in charge of their own lives.  Definitely the growing trend in pop, and gratefully accepted.
  10. Bombastic Love - What a happy song!!  It's romantic to a sense of being idealistic, and that is definitely stomach-able.  If only every relationship could be like that.
  11. That's Where You Take Me - Nice paced song.  Sweet and romantic, but again, not to the point where you want to induce vomiting.  I think a lot of these songs just make you feel good.  Either about what you got, or in this case, what you want.
  12. What It's Like To Be Me - I think deep down she sends that message that we have NO idea what her life is like, and how true.  I mean, that's not how the song is written, but when you first heard the title, be honest...that what you thought it'd be about.  Anyway, we all know Justin and Wade can write so I'm not really surprised about the lyrical quality.  She and Justin are right though, these ARE some of her best vocals.  Having Justin on background (vocals) doesn't hurt the quality of the song either though.  :-)

Overall, I love it.  I think it's lyrically mature, and she was in definet need of that growth.  I like her message of positive outlooks on the person that you are.  Her hands-on activity in the CD shows in the pride she takes in it.  You can tell she's proud of it, and that's enough in the end.
