Nick Carter's razor sharp signing Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter is set to see one of his dream's come true as his first signing to his management company N-Control, the rock group BIK, launch a mini-tour this week and play a showcase to a major labels
Nick Carter told worldpop that it is a 'dream come true' for him to manage the rock group. 'I've loved rock music for so long' he added. BIK are a five-piece alternative rock band from Carter's home town of Tampa, Florida. In a career move that mirrors that of Boyzone star and Westlife ex-manager Ronan Keating, Carter feels he can use his experience gained with years in a chart topping, record breaking band to aid BIK's career.
BIK (which stands for Born Into Kaos) left Tampa yesterday, Monday 15 January, for their first solo tour during which they will be playing one-off dates supporting Fuel and Buckcherry. The mini-tour ends in New York on January 24, where they will showcase for several major labels who have been eager to see BIK perform live.
The band comprises of Redd (Frank Prevatte) on vocals, Carter's 'good friend' BP (Brent Pongetti ) on guitar, James Granell on bass, Lane Smith on drums and newest member DJ Promo, as DJ/rapper. They have been working under Carter's guidance, writing songs and recording a demo. Guitarist, BP says, 'People should know that Nick's into rock, and that he's not just living in a pop bubble.' Lead singer Redd adds 'It's cool having someone our age that knows about music, is so involved in us, and wants to help us grow.
Carter, who played drums for the band in a recent concert in Tampa, is reported as saying, 'I am really looking forward to helping these guys get to where they want to go. They have the talent, and the drive. I believe together, we will be able to create something really cool that everyone will love.'
Backstreet Boys kick off their own tour this month embarking on a 10-month world tour to perform tracks from their latest album Black & Blue. The band intend to take a break from Backstreet duties in 2002 to pursue individual projects and Nick Carter has already been plotting his solo ambitions. He exclusively told worldpop, 'If I did solo stuff ... it would probably be more a rock/pop thing cos we do pop/R&B music, so going straight to rock/alternative would be a little crazy!'
