2Gether: Total exclusive with one of the year's biggest, best and funniest boy-band phenoms!

Do you guys love 2Gether? OH, yeah! And if they started out as a "fake" boy band, there's nada fake about your devotion. We had tons of letters and e-mails patting us on the back for giving them their first full cover as a group on PopStar! (Nov. 00), and for those 2hot exclusive pix.

Well, since you chose the premiere of the original 2Gether MTV movie as one of your fave. events of 2000, we're gonna give you what you - the readers - want. Namely, more chatter and more dreamy pix. In cluding a Michael centerfold and a - gulp! double-gulp! - *shirtless* poster of Evan!

Dig in and enjoy. All this fresh 2Gether scoop is our gift 2 you!

PopStar!: The premiere of 2Gether was chosen as the biggest event of 2000 by our readers. why do you think they loved it so much?
Evan: The script was perfect! That is saying a lot, because it didn't require any real improv by everybody. The material was so funny and really put together.

Alex: I just saw a script that I totally dug that MTV was doing and I had to go on it. When I saw the role of "Mickey," I was like, "oh my gosh - I could play this!"

Michael: I thought the script was funny. I thought that each character would have their own kind of trait. I knew the people watching the movie would really care for these characters. I thought it was really important and that it had a lot of heart invovled.

Kevin: The guys who wrote it, the Gunn Cousins - Brian and Mark - are very talented and they really seemed to tap into a lot of the humor that was there ready to be tapped into for the boy-band thing without being too mean about it.

What did you actually have to do at the audition?
Michael: Sing, dance and act. They had given us a tape of a song that was supposed to be in the movie, but it didn't end up being in the movie. We got about a day to learn it. I went in and performed that song and danced along with it. The second audition I sang an a cappella version of a song that I wrote.

Did you all get along immediately?
Evan: Oh, definitely - we get along the same way you see us in the movie. It's bizarre how art imitates life. [Laughs] we have such different personalities it's unbelievable. Not one of us comes from the same life experience, even to a remote degree - it's not your average-American type thing. To bring all of these people together is kind of a treat. I got to meet incredible people and now I get to work with them indefinitely until 2Gether series runs out.
Noah: Alex and Kevin, I consider us really close friends. And all the rest of us get along. You always have people that you get along really well with, and me and Alex hang out all the time. Me and Alex go to clubs sometimes, Or we just hang out and Alex plays guitar and has little private concerts and stuff.

Alex: Me and Noah went out pretty much every night while we were filming the movie. We were always late to the set and stuff like that.

You're the youngest, Michael. Do you get a chance to hang with the guys?
Michael: Yeah, all four of them quite evenly...but I can't really go clubbing with them! [All Laugh]

Did you ever dream of being in a boyband as a li'l kid?
Michael: I've always dreamt about something like this, but I never imagined that it would come around and I'd get an opportunity like this. It's been fantastic!

How much of your character is really like you?
Alex: It's half and half. Mickey's thoughts are like me - he doesn't intend to hurt anyone and neither do I. He's really deep down a nice guy. But he's going through an identity crisis and I'm not...I don't think. [Laughs]

Evan: I don't think our characters were exposed to the point where you could say my character is totally dead-on. I think after five or six episodes of the series, that's when I'll be able to answer the question. He is pretty similar to me. I'm definitely pretty intense, especially when it comes to work, and I'm a perfectionist. And I think Jerry definitely is.

His character was being torn whether to follow his dreams or maintain the average American home life with a girlfriend and his job in the restaurant.

Actually, my character's job in the movie changed about nine times. It came to it that I was in a hotel, but that scene was even cut for time purposes.

Evan, you went to the Johnny No-Name (AJ McLean) concert here in New York. What did you think of it?
Evan: It was a lot of fun - his show was really great. It was kind of cool meeting him and Howie actually came to the show. It was a lot of fun. They are really professional, a lot of fun. They seem to be great guys. They seemed to have gotten a kick out of the movie, which is cool.

Boy bands seem to love the 2Gether movie series.Evan: Yeah, because the way in which we poke fun is more like a tribute than, "you're such an idiot!" There wasn't any of that in the movie. It did morph into its own goofy band. We're not so much making fun of anybody anymore, we're more like, "hey, look at this funny boyband!"

Fans love you guys even more than boy bands do!
Kevin: The reaction of the fans is just wonderful!

Alex: I think the reason is that Backstreet and N'sync are virtually untouchable. No one really has the guts to say anything to them. We applied to the more regular people out there. Because we're there, the average guys. We're your neighbor, we're not these perfect guys who can dance like crazy. We're normal guys, we've got a heavy guy, we've got a heartthrob, your shy one, your small one. We've got everyone from 15 to 34 - something that nobody's ever done. I think that's why it's taking off like it is.

A lot of readers know you're actors, but see you as a boyband. Is there a point where it completely blurs and you guys think, "We are a real band!"?
Noah: I think lately we're not trying to think that way, but it's been leaning towards that, and it's kind of shocking - we are a band, you know. I think that we all sometimes think, "no, this is still an acting job." There's going to be a point when we actually are a band. When we're on a tour bus and stuff.

When you guys do personal appearances, are you in character or are you yourselves?
Noah: I think we've all pretty much established that we're not going to walk around in character. We're not going to go anywhere in character. The only time we are in character is when we're performing onstage, or we're in the show.

Which one of you would most likely go solo?
Evan: I think all of us could definitely go solo. I think if we broke up and disbanded, everyone would have their own immediate career.

In reality, all of us are musicians, we have our own feel to things. Alex is an amazing songwriter, does his own music and has a demo.

Alex: I play guitar, piano, bass, drums, violin, cello, I sing. I never really got any training in anything. I taught myself how to sing. Well, you can't really teach yourself how to sing, you kind of have it or you don't. I taught myself how to play all my instruments and stuff like that.

Don't you ever get overwhelmed with work?
Evan: Nigel Dick - the director of the movie - was talking to us. He said, "Last month I turned down Eric Clapton because I had vacation plans and I was getting burn-out." He was like, "You have to learn that early."

It's great advice, especially when it comes to spending time with friends and family. Those are the people that will be with you forever.

Michael: Watching boy bands, a lot of people probably perceive them as living a perfect life, all fun and games. But in all actually, there is a lot of work that's involved. You give up a lot, but you get a lot back in return.

It must be hard to think of dating.
Alex: Yeah, it would be extremely hard to have a relationship. I don't think I could do it.

Could you ever see yourself dating a fan of the show?
Michael: Yeah, I think everything is a possibility. You've got to leave everything open. I never say that I would never date a fan, but we'll just see what happens.

Evan, as Jerry, tell me about your most embarrassing moment?
Evan: Oh, my God! I've never been asked that one. Probably being violently ill in front of fans. It was both in character and out of character, to be honest with you.

The last day of shooting, which is where Jerry shows up to join the concert and save the day, I woke up that morning and I literally could barely stand. I had the flue and pneumonia, all at once. I showed up to try to do it and that was the day we had to dance for eight hours. I went to the emergency room and they gave me enough fluid to last me four hours. Poor Michael had the same thing, so him and I were puking.

I mustered everything possible. The makeup people were amazing - they saved me!

Kevin, how about yours as Doug?
Kevin: [Laughs] I think when there's a shot and Doug is being over to fill up the car and you see a little too much...
