FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - Part One

What do you think of drinking and smoking?
Evan: Cancer has had a direct and profound impact on me. I've seen what it does to people and their families and I've personally lost family members to cancer and have sat with my mother (a non-smoker and non-drinker) as she suffered through Chemotherapy, surgery, and fear. While it did not cause my mother's cancer, Smoking is still a leading cause of death and illness. Drinking outside of moderation has similar effects including dementia, and liver failure to name a few. I also take my responsibility of being a role model (or just in public view) very seriously. For these reasons I choose not to smoke or drink irresponsibly. I also choose not to tell people how to live their lives but can only hope that perhaps my choices are wise and will positively influence those I come in contact with.

When I watched "Making the Video" for The Hardest Part of Breaking Up, I thought it looked like you were carrying an ice bag on your shoulder. At first I thought u were just bringing it w/ you, but then I thought maybe it was cuz u hurt your shoulder? I know that's dumb, but I was just curious!!
Evan: For those of you who noticed, I did in fact have a bag of ice on my shoulder during the "making of the video". That's actually why I'm in Indiana right now, (aside the fact that I'm visiting my Dad and Sister) which is to get an MRI done to figure out how badly I've managed to hurt my neck. It initially was hurt during episode 2 while filming the video portion at the end of the episode (where I was doing some Karate-looking-thing). I then kept re-injuring it every two weeks, most likely due to the dancing and stress, so yes I was in major pain while doing the video shoot and if you look carefully I did a variation of the choreography so that I didn't have to raise my left arm or turn my head too violently. So there you have it! Wish me luck I go into the tube tomorrow.... (response from Oct. 31, 2000)

I have an idea for the 2gether show. How about Jerry deciding to become a bad boy and he acts like Mickey where as Mickey acts like Jerry?
Evan: I'd love that.... hmmm I'll start trying to convince the writers on that one!

Is there a website for Lauren Smith (a.k.a Erin Evans)?
Evan: I will find out about her fan sites, which (if they aren't out there already!) will be exploding soon because just recently she started the mini-series "Christie" based on the book series playing "CHRISTIE"!!! It's a three part mini-series which starts airing Nov 19th on FX and or possibly NBC. Also, you can catch her small role in "Get Carter" with Sylvester Stallone! She's been so busy in fact that we had to shoot most of episode 12 over this last weekend! (Oct. 14 & 15, 2000)

How would a girl know if a guy likes her?
Evan: If you ever figure out how you're supposed to know if someone likes you, let me know! I'd practically need to be beaten over the head before I ever get a clue...
(who doesn't like Evan anyway?)

How do you feel about boybands in general?
Evan: I do like their music! I'm a music fanatic, and what I really like about that kind of music (pop music in general) is the positive messages, the vocal "gymnastics" that some of these performers demonstrate, and the fact that it's usually presented to an audience with choreography. It's a full-service-entertainment medium. I think you could totally hate NSYNC's music for example but it would still be almost impossible not to be entertained by them in concert... I hope that finally answered the ?.

Do all the guys from 2Gether get along?
Evan: Yes, all of us in 2gether get along. We all have very different personalities, and at times that has been a challenge, but we've always transcended, learned from our experiences "2gether", and have become even closer.

How do you feel knowing you have made an impact on your fans, especially for the cause of Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation?
Evan: Every time I read of those affected by my story (really my Mother's) and especially of those who too have suffered the effects of Breast Cancer, I'm touched beyond words. Many years ago I often wondered what, if any, was the value of fame. While on some level (a very shallow one) it can fullfill a longing to be liked and loved, but for me it sort of runs counter to my tendency to be private, and for wanting my contributions I make to be judged on value basis not hype - all things fame can strip you of. Anyway, the only value I came up with at that time was to help some cause by raising awareness, and obviously I didn't have to look too far for that cause. Since then, I've found that 2gether has also introduced me to many people I would not have ever met before, and I'm always looking to attribute value to what I have before me. But, the fact that I have finally made some kind of difference on that scale is what I think is the best benefit one could ask for.

Evan, do you have a girlfriend?
Joanna: I really don't think it's any of our business that whether Evan has a girlfriend or not. Does it even matter? But to all those curious fans, yes, Evan is involved.

How did you get the part of Jerry?
Evan: About how I got 2gether - Someone at MTV remembered me from another audition several years ago so they called my agent to have me audition. Since I was on set doing "Shaft" at the time, I sent in a video taped audition and the next thing I know I'm in Reno, Nevada with these other four guys recording "Calculus."

Evan, are you a Leo?
Evan: I am a Leo but the Jerry-Birthdate is not the same as mine.

Who is the actress that played Erin in the "u + me = us" video?
Evan: The very talented actress who played Erin is named Lauren and she is from Vancouver.

What is Lauren's last name?
Joanna: Her name is Lauren Smith.

How the heck did you get in contact with Evan?
Joanna: I guess I am just lucky. When I saw Evan for the first time, I just knew I wanted to do a site on him. I sent my URL to the unofficial 2gether movie site (check the links section) and the next thing I knew was that Nigel, the director of the movie, had my URL posted on his site. And Evan, since he likes to keep in touch with his fans, saw the URL and visited my site. From that day on, he has been really supportive by sending me info of himself. He is the humblest celebrity that I know, and I am really glad I have done what I did...a fan site dedicated to him.

here is the message posted by Nigel on his site that brought Evan to my site:

"What have we unleashed on the world? I've now found the First Unofficial Evan Farmer Fan Site?address http://go.to/EvanFarmer.(My site actually was not the first fan site on Evan. Thus, I asked Evan's permission to make it official. As you can tell, the URL has also changed after that.) It features such items as: what makes Evan so hot?...the art corner?..evan greeting cards.?But beware - I tried to leave a message in the guest book but it rejected me because my last name is dick! profanity detected?came back the warning and it refused to post my greeting!

Buss was right. they're going to blow up like Chernobyl!?OK so he was talking about someone else but how long will it be before Pegasus gets its own web page?

Now there's an idea..."

Do you know where I could contact Evan?
Joanna: You can now request your personalized autograph as well as write to Evan. Simply click here to learn more and for the address.

Can you give me Evan's email address?
Joanna: No, I can't. I promised Evan that I would keep his email address a secret. Sorry.

Is your website official or unofficial?
Joanna: As my site's title suggests, my site is authorized with Evan's approval.

Is 2gether a real group?
Joanna: No, 2gether is only a fictional boyband for MTV's original movie, 2gether. All of the guys are only actors, although they can sing and dance just like a real boyband.

Where can I find more information on 2gether? Oh, I want more pictures of QT and Chad!!
Joanna: My site is only about Evan Farmer. If you want to learn more about the group and its members other than Evan, check out my site's "links section." If I am not mistaken, I believe my site has the most complete list to all the 2gether fan sites right now.

Evan, do you support any charity
Evan: I do support a charity that means a lot to me. It's the Susan G Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. Every year, for the past 4 years, I've been the National Anthem soloist at Baltimore's event. My mother has been the treasurer (among other volunteer jobs) for them since her diagnosis and has been a survivor for over 9 years now. Of everything I've done or still do, that is the hardest gig in the world! I still plan on joining them every October though until they kick me out

What is Evan's real age?
Joanna: According to visitor Liz, she wrote a letter to the admission office at Tulane University and asked when did Evan graduate. The reply is that "Evan Farmer Jr. is a 1995 graduate." The source is reliable because Liz forwarded the letter from the admission office to me. Evan is turning 28 this summer.

Whose voices did you do in the MTV animated cartoon "Daria?"
Evan: I do several voices on Daria including Robert (one of the football players), Eric (Daria's mother's boss), and Deputy and a ton of the singers in the musical season premeire episode.

Evan, can you email me?
Evan: I haven't posted my email address yet cause frankly I wouldn't be able to answer them all with the time I've had lately, and I have a hard time thinking that I'd have to decide who to respond to, so until I figure out a system I'll continue to read all the ?'s I can, and answer the ones I can. Thanks for your patience!!!!!!

Do you have any advice for people that want to become entertainers?
Evan: I've read a lot of questions about becoming an actor/entertainer of some sort. This is both a complex question to answer as well as a real simple one to me. The simple part, I believe, is to never rely on another's advice. I have always believed (and I think I've proven true) that when you trust yourself, and INVENT YOUR OWN "way of making it" you will in fact find success. No two successes have gone about it exactly the same way, and I think that holds especially true with the entertainment business. That said, disregard what I'm about to tell you... Learn as much as you can, but get out there even sooner and try to get a job. Learning there is quicker, more useful, and you get paid earlier (ie. It sure beats bartending and you've already succeeded). If you postpone the risk, you postpone ANY chance of working. That has been true for ME in acting as well as with everything I've ever done. Choose your own path. Good luck! (Very well said, Evan!)

Do you play any instruments?
Evan: I play guitar, very little piano (yes I learned for Forever Plaid) and some harmonica. I honestly can't say I play that other flute/piano creation they had me blowing on in Forever Plaid - I don't even remember exactly what it looks like!) But that's about it. Guitar is my main instrument though...(I've played since I was about 13, but never as often as I would like)

Are thinking of ever returning to off-Broadway or Broadway shows?
Evan: I have a feeling I'll eventually return to do some theatre after I get TV and Film going for awhile. I get restless and need new experiences and frankly I get a little exhausted doing exactly the same thing eight shows a week, but on the flip side nothing beats live performance, so I'll just wait and see what opportunities come up. Is Michael Cuccione doing okay?
Evan: Thank you for asking me about Michael. He actually has a book written by himself and his Grandmother which I've just now finished and is AMAZING. I cannot say enough about Michael, how generous, talented, funny, inspiring, a friend, and on and on and on. He is one of those people who come along once every billion years who in fact "Makes a Difference" His book is Titled "There are Survivors" and his Grandmother's name is Jane MacSporran (author with Michael). I believe Michael is fully recovered, and even since I've met him he has grown stronger and stronger. I do know Michael wants no sympathy, instead just awareness of what other children need to survive themselves. It means a lot to him (and me) that his message is reaching people like you. Thank you for asking! (source: Karen's Fantasticks Page Guestbook)
