The 106.1 WBLI Summer Jam at the Jones Beach Amphitheater in Wantagh, NY on Sunday, May 27, 2001 was a beautiful tribute to Michael Cuccione's life. Not only were a portion of the proceeds donated to The Michael Cuccione Foundation for Cancer Research, but the remaining members of 2Ge+her made a touching appearance with Michael's parents to raise awareness for its cause.

Because there are so many details to this event, I will compose this report in list form.

--There was a box at the entrance for money donations to The Michael Cuccione Foundation. Near the food, there was a stand selling buttons (a popular item that sold out), Michael's CD and book, and T-shirts ("QT" in puffy blue jacket holding teddy bear, some text: "Support The Michael Cuccione Foundation" and "2Ge+her") for Michael's foundation. Domenic and Gloria Cuccione, Michael's parents, stood nearby, meeting, greeting, and signing autographs. They were very kind and warm to all of Michael's fans, appearing to be some of the strongest and most caring people on earth.

--Following a brief appearance by 2Ge+her at the beginning of the show, Soul Decision, 98o, and BBMak performed.

--Finally, a DJ announced, "Now, are you guys ready to meet 2Ge+her?" Everyone screamed. Our boys ran out at the sound of their names. "EVAN FARMER (Jerry)!" "NOAH BASTIAN (Chad)!" "ALEX SOLOWITZ (Mickey)!" Kevin (Doug) was absent; he was busy filming a movie. The guys of 2G began talking about all the things that Michael accomplished in only 16 years. They then lit 16 candles around the stage in his memory.

--Once the candles were lit, the Cuccione parents were introduced ("Here's the bravest woman in the world, Michael's mom, Mrs. Cuccione.") to talk a little more about all the things that Michael did and how all of his dreams came true.

--A video that ran approximately 15 minutes began, including clips from "Behind The Awesomness", clips of Michael as a child that looked like Cuccione home videos, and clips from the series like Mickey and QT's "friends forever" speech (from Season One, Episode One). Many people were crying, including Noah, Alex, Evan, Domenic, and Gloria. Then most of the audience held up lighters and glow sticks in honour. Mr. and Mrs. Cuccione promised that Michael was there with them right then and that he was smiling down on them, realizing how much he was loved. To the Michael supporters, they said, "Never give up on your dreams, no matter how far they may seem. You can do it." They then explained that, since good things happened for Michael, they can happen for anyone out there.

--For the next section of the tribute, Alex took out a guitar and sat in the middle of the 16 candles, singing a very slow song that he composed for Michael. As he sang, onlookers could see tears streaming down his face. He was the most quiet member during the tribute, and one could tell he felt very emotional. Although the song was difficult to hear, the lyrics were beautiful if you listened closely, with lines such as, "I got the news this morning...can't believe you're gone...friends forever."

--After Alex's song, Noah took the mic. When he said that one of Michael's favorite things to do was sing, especially his song "Visualize," speakers began blasting its opening chords. Noah then asked everyone to sing along and think of Michael while the song played. This, according to onlookers, who horribly sad but also stunningly beautiful; the darkness was illuminated only by lighters and candles as fans, Evan, Noah, Alex, and Michael's parents sang along. It's been said that very few people were singing due to the fact that it's difficult to sing and cry at the same time.

--Evan was the next speaker. "Have you ever dreamed of being in a TV show?" All screamed. "Have you ever dreamed of being a singer?" All screamed. "Have you ever dreamed of being in a movie or two?" All screamed. "Have you ever dreamed of making a few CDs?" All screamed. "How 'bout doing all of that BEFORE you're 16?" All screamed. "And doing it *all* for people to be aware of cancer!!!" A few more words were said about Michael before 2G wrapped it up.

--Following 2Ge+her's 45-minute-long (or longer) appearance, Gloria Gaynor, No Authority, Dream, Nine Days, and several other performances (ATC, Wyclef Jean) "did their thang" before the show was called to a close.

--According to fans who met 2Ge+her at the show, the guys were *very* supportive to all, giving hugs and support to crying fans. They were also quite accessible at their hotel, where they hung out with several lucky fans until the wee hours of the morning.

There is exciting news from Gloria Cuccione (according to Ashley Kleinknecht at spinny_princess56@hotmail.com):

--A CD will be released in the near future and features several unheard songs that Michael had recorded before December (hopefully "Whether Life Is Sun Or Rain" and "Learning From The Best") and some from 2Ge+her. The producer of this recording is unspecified.

--MTV has officially agreed to produce the movie about Michael's life which is currently being scripted. David Hasselhoff is helping with the film and may even appear in it. Los Angeles and Vancouver are potential filming locations, and rumour has it that, although no auditions have been held yet, they may begin casting in New York City within the upcoming months. The movie is said to feature not only Michael's story but also backgrounds on Stephan, Sophia (her first kiss, specifically), and the rest of his family. According to TVT, 2G's record company, a brand-spankin'-new 2Ge+her demo will be released in September, but MTV has not decided whether they would like to support the continuation of the group. The guys have reportedly been in and out of their studios (downstairs at New York City's TVT and in Santa Monica, the other MTV headquarters) to record. The demo has not yet been completed. Rumour has it that a song dedicated to Michael (QT) is on the demo and that, although Noah (Chad) is currently on short break due to his pilot not making the WB fall schedule, the others have been keeping busy schedules. According to noahsmom.com, no more 2Ge+her dolls will be produced. In other words, after the dolls are sold out in stores, they will be unavailable for purchase. "Because the series was cancelled in the US, they only made a few as a model."

Here is some information on a few Canadian fundraisers for The Michael Cuccione Foundation! (Source: Ashley Kleinknecht at spinny_princess56@hotmail.com)

--The Cuccione's dinner will take place at the Italian Cultural Center in Vancouver, Canada on September 22. Tickets will be $60.00. More information on this event will be posted at www.makingadifference.org as the sale date approaches. The dress code will be mid-formal, with a shirt and tie for boys and a dress for girls. As has been reported by Michael's former agent, Kristina Van De Walle, there will be live and silent auctions and a 50-50 draw in addition to a wonderful meal.

--The Cucciones are also holding a Golf-A-Thon in Vancouver on June 24. For more information on that event, keep checking www.makingadifference.org and, of course, 2Ge+her 2day.

--Another dinner with profits going toward the foundation will be held in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada on October 27. The tickets go for $45.00 and are currently selling quickly. To attend, e-mail Ashley at spinny_princess56@hotmail.com ASAP!

--In Coquitlam, "Relay for a Friend" (a run for cancer research) will most likely take place in June and have some tie-in with Michael's foundation.

--Michael's younger brother, Stephan, has recently been doing some fundraising for his brother's charity.

"2Ge+her: The Movie" can now be purchased! It features exclusive interviews, part of their 03-28-00 TRL appearance, the U+Me=Us (Calculus) video, and a brief tribute to Michael!

Although the movie was released on May 8, there are plenty of locations that have not stocked it or have only stocked the DVD. Don't let this fool you. The movie has been released on VHS *and* DVD and can be purchased in both versions on Amazon.com and cdnow.com ($10.38 VHS/$13.99 DVD on cdnow.com and $12.98 VHS/$19.98 DVD in stores). If you feel unsure about ordering online, however, here are a few places that will order them for you: Tower Records, Media Play, Suncoast, Record Town, Barnes and Noble, and Blockbuster.

As confirmed by the man himself on KISS FM, an LA radio station, Alex Solowitz (Mickey) will host a new MTV series called "The Band" which will supposedly air after TRL on certain days of the week. Final Note

So...are the guys of 2G giving you enough suspense? I can hardly wait to see what will be completed first -- Evan's secret next project, 2G's demo, Michael's new release, Alex's TV show, or something completely unexpected -- although I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
