Note From Sandy

Hey fellow 2Ge+herites!

So how 'bout that awesome episode last night?  Three cheers for the great writers who make Chad's lines so much fun!  As for the chat, it was very helpful.  Evan was very open, which -- I think -- helped a lot of people.  For those of you who didn't attend, it wasn't as depressing as I thought it might be, because the producers were really encouraging and positive about Michael's attitude toward life, but I could have done without all those awfully depressing commercials for the chat before/during the episode!  I was expecting to go into that chat room and smell a funeral parlour!  MTV could do a little less with the pathetic music and a little more with remembering Michael's smiling face.  After all, as Roger Schulman said last night, "Michael was all about laughter."

Updates

1.

Sandy's "2Ge+her: Behind The Awesomeness" Review: Covering a whole lot of fun scenes from last season while also giving us sneak peaks into the upcoming episodes, this show is fun even for the on-again-off-again viewer.  Be warned, however, not to tune in if your heart is still aching from Michael Cuccione's death.  Wow…it hits hard.

2.

Last night, on 2Ge+her, Mickey, Chad, Jerry, and Doug continued their fall from the top of the building...and landed on a group of chicks, avoiding injury.  Taking off in a big white van, they decided to pirate their music and work underground, broadcasting their own goofy radio station and internet connection fron Chad's laptop.  With a few breaks along the way, they broke into their old What-Ev pad and cleaned up, only to be cornered by a team of nasty What-Ev sleeze-bags.  In the end, the guys ended up re-uniting with QT, who had just returned from his "Living With My Liver" Tour, and signing back to What-Ev under the clause that they get to keep their "piratosity" and remain "pirates."

3.

Here’s a little snippet of last night’s chat which I found to be extremely encouraging for the future of 2Ge+her:

Roger Schulman: "I know that Michael wanted the show to continue...and we have to wait and see how the audience responds to his final episode.  I know I would like to see the show continue, and that's what everyone on the shows wants...and I hope the audience does, too...That's really up to you, the audience.  Michael loved doing the TV show and like any TV show it is dependent on ratings."

4.

"Left without a record label or home at the end of last season, the boys of 2Ge+her go 'pirate style,' taking their act underground to elude the cops.  But What-Ev Records will do anything to get the group back under contract, including taking band member Q.T. (playing by the recently deceased Michael Cuccione) hostage.  As usual, the laughs are hit-and-miss, but there's something reassuring about seeing a boy band actually in on the joke.  B+"  (Source: Entertainment Weekly)

2Ge+her also make appearances in HOT! (March/April 2001), Teen Celebrity (March 2001), and BLAST! (#1 2001) concerning the new season.

5.

According to a chick on the sonicnet 2Ge+her message board, Mr. and Mrs. "B" have hinted that Noah will be on "Days of Our Lives" (air date yet unscheduled) and that Noah's 17-year-old sister, Haley, auditioned for a television show as well.  We'll have to wait and see!

What's the deal with Evan's deal?

-You can request a personalized autograph or just write a fan letter.

-To get an autograph in the US, fold a 8X10 or larger manilla envelope, self-addressed, with a 55-cent stamp on the corner, and put it in the letter that you mail to Evan.  No money for autographs will be accepted, as "there should never be a cost for being my fan."  (In areas outside of the US, please check with your local post office regarding the amount of postage that a 8X10 picture would require to be sent from San Francisco.  From Canada, that's 85-cents, and Canadian stamps won't work.)

Quote/Fun Fact

"Yes, I did attend the funeral.  We don't have time to list all the emotions and thoughts that went through my head that day.  Certainly the toughest thing was to see Michael's family in so much pain.  At the same time, it was extremely comforting to see such an outpouring of support in shear numbers and see people who Michael touched so deeply who were there to support his family and friends and to celebrate his life...and it was also important to me to be there so I could experience my own loss directly."  -Evan Farmer (2-19-01, MTV.com)

Lyrics

2. U=Me=Us (Calculus)

from "2Ge+her"

Written by Brain Gunn, Mark Gunn, Josh Schwartz, and Brian Kierulf

Produced by KNS Productions

Published by MTV Songs, Inc./Zomba Songs, Inc./Mugsy Boy Publishing/Kierulf Music, adm. by Zomba Songs, Inc.

JERRY:

I'm losing my hair and my vision is shady.

Last night I dreamt of an over-weight lady.

CHAD:

But I need young thing to keep up with my pace.

MICKEY:

To hold me in her arms and take me straight to second base.

I know my calculus.  It says "U+ME=US."

Aw, sing it Chad, for me.

CHAD:

I know my calculus.

It says "U+ME=US," oh yeah.

ALL:

Calculus

MICKEY:

Yeah, haha, come on.

We're 2Ge+her.

(QT: We're 2Ge+her.)

MICKEY:

Girl, algebra or trigonometry could never equal up to what you do to me.

(QT: Do to me...)

So let's integrate -- don't differentiate.

If you were in my class there ain't no way I could pass.

(QT: Way I could pass...)

I hate English, gym, and not to mention I can't even afford to pay my attention.

(QT: Pay my attention...)

No philosophy could ever come between us, but we'll always have our calculus.

CHORUS (ALL):

I know my calculus.

It says U+ME=US.

Said I know my calculus.

It says U+ME=US.

ALL:

Go!  Go!  Go!  (etc...)

QT:

Ooo, baby.

MICKEY:

Oh, Lord, yeah.

JERRY:

U+ME=US, oh.

QT AND MICKEY:

Well I've never been good at history

And I don't give a crap about Robert E. Lee.

JERRY AND CHAD:

But when it comes to cosines, I know a thing or two

And I kicked ass on the test about me and you.

CHORUS

ALL:

U, plus sign, ME, equal sign, US

U, plus sign, ME, equal sign, US

JERRY:

Girl, no subject comes close to you.

2Ge+her, sing it.

ALL:

I know my calculus.

CHORUS

Final Note

Within the past week, everybody's been thinking more about the future of 2Ge+her in relation to Michael Cuccione's death.  I won't usually do this, but a member of 2Ge+her 2day asked me to include something she wrote in this week's newsletter.

"I think I've been quiet for long enough. You think it's hard for Michael fans to deal with his death, but what about his friends (the rest of 2Ge+her and many more, I'm sure) and family that never get to see his smiling face ever again?  I'm a BIG fan of 2ge+her, and I don't want to see the show go just as much as the next person, but I think it's only right to let it go.  They had good times and now bad, but I think it would be best to cancel production of the show but still air old episodes. That way, we can keep Michael's memory alive.  Because the guys in the band would have to live without a member that was most important to the whole round-up, it will easier for them if we just let it go."

Sandy's View -- I completely understand what "Fan #1" wrote.  I agree with her, as well.  We will always miss Michael, but our frustration with his death will never compare to that of his family and friends.  However, if Alex, Noah, Evan, and Kevin (hey, that rhymes!) wouldn't mind signing on for another season, I don't think our support could hurt anything.  My opinion is this: If Michael's family or friends would like 2Ge+her ended, so be it.  If MTV wants 2Ge+her ended...GET 'UM!  As for what transpired on the chat last night, I think we may have our answer (see update #3).  Thanks again, "Fan #1," for your letter.  I think it might give everyone a different perspective on the situation.

The second e-mail that I received came from a fan with the opposite viewpoint.

"I made a Petition for Online. I am going to email MTV the Link so they can see how many people love 2Gether and that they CANNOT end the Series!

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/jdr1057x/petition.html"

Neither view is wrong.  They're both correct.  Take your side and act accordingly.  Whatever happens, 2Ge+her will always be our guys!

Can't wait to see you next “2sday!”  Enjoy Monday's episode!

yours, Sandy
