subject: living dolls: the making of a child beauty queen
As I was suffering from insomnia at 12:00 am in the morning, I went down-stair and caught the HBO American Undercover special on child beauty pageant. In no time, I was clued to my TV, despite the fact I still have school tomorrow.
My Gosh, how could any mother do this to her kid? All those make-up, hair-spray, fake teeth on a 5 years old? This is INSANE. I've never been a fan of beauty pageant; nothing can ever compensate what one has to sacrifice for a beauty pageant. I just totally lost it when I saw that cute little girl Swan, being told to act like a "barbie doll" and do this and do that. Can they see she is only 5 YEARS OLD? That kid deserves a normal 5-years-old life! When she looks back at her childhood, she's gonna realize that she doesn't even have one! I am SO angry right now; I can't even express it! Behind that smile, you can really see the tears...gosh, how can this be happening? Those moms are so not qualified to be parents; they are simply selfish for taking away their kids' childhood to fulfill THEIR dreams.
