subject: yeah, i made it to cali.!

Well, after a 14 hours drive, I finally made it to Mountain View, California! I can't believe that I am finally here, since I've never considered myself a "big city" person. Not being "out" enough to get an overall impression of the city, I don't have much to say for now. I, however, did make a list of some of the likes and dis-likes of Cali. Just thought I should share this with ya since I think it's pretty entertaining.

Joanna likes...
*no tax on food products
One of the best things about Cali. gotta be buying food without having to pay tax. Since I absolutely love to eat, this is definitely an advantage to me! Everything seems so cheap without having the pay the extra money.

*more tv channels to watch
Praise the Lord for Cali.'s Cable TV company! Normally, I got about 35 TV channels in Salt Lake City with basic cable service. But here in Cali, over 60!!! My jaw *figuratively* dropped to the floor when I was flipping through the channels...VH1, E!, and so much more! In Utah, if you get MTV, you don't get VH1. But here, I've got both! This is SO great! I've instantly become a fan of VH1, which is more music-oriented than MTV, meaning, no stupid shows like "undressed" and "jackass!"

*the trees
Since I am such a nature person, I was thrilled to see that there are more trees in Mountain View than Salt Lake City. That's definitely something I didn't expect.

*the close distance among cities
In Utah, there really isn't much to do...the only places that CAN be called as vacation spots close by are like Las Vegas, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Canyon. Other than those places, it's all deserts. But here in Mountain View, it takes 30 minutes to go to San Francisco, to San Jose, to Oakland, and a mere 6 hours to Los Angeles. Definitely wouldn't be bored for not having places to go!

Joanna dislikes...
*the traffic
Why is everyone driving so freaking fast in California? Just by sitting there in the car on the freeways, I was scared to death. Think I'm gonna bring my car with me to LA? Hell No! (Pardon me) I sure don't want to get myself killed in a car crash the first day in LA. Honestly, I don't think I'm ever gonna drive again as long as I stay in Cali.

*the airing time for TRL and the tonight show
I just barely found out that TRL airs the same time in here as in the East Coast cities, at 3:30. This totally sucks, since I've been watching TRL at 1:30 in Salt Lake for as long as I can remember. I just don't feel like watching the show in late afternoon...also, 11:30 pm for the Leno show...that's awefully late. I really do miss the 10:30 pm showing time back in Salt Lake.

*my curls just won't stay
Perhaps there is something to do with the humidity here in California, everytime I curl my hair, it just goes flat in five minutes! What am I going to do with my hair now? I better find a better way to style it!

*girls wearing skimpy outfits
I don't know if this is the general trend in Cali or what, just in these few days, I've already seen a lot of girls wearing super tight shorts or "barely-there" dresses. Though the weather is awefully nice here in Cali., surely there is no need to dress like a slut. You can be sexy and attractive without showing too much skin. Where is people's sense of fashion?

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Thanks for reading this! I am very excited to start another chapter of my life...
