The last two weeks have been absolutely insane, with an average of at least two shows per day. Just one more week and the Highlights' 2000 Christmas Show is coming to an end. What an incredible experience it has been! Though possessed with mix feelings, the end of the Christmas Show means the beginning of yet another LONG rehearsal - the Disney Tour! In the end of March, the Highlights are taking a 7 days trip to Disney Land in Los Angles and perform there! I am gonna try my best to squeeze some hip-pop or R&B to the show. Last year was all Western and cowboys, lordy, I WON'T let that happen this year.
Anyway, the girls and I have had a pretty tight schedule today - five shows, in which three of them were elementary schools. Seriously, those little kids are ANGELS! They are simply SO pure and innocent. For the first number, "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," we passed out candy and all those goodies to the audience as we ran out from the backstage doors. All those kids went absolutely NUT about getting treats. One six grader in particular just cracked me up. He was like, "oh, you're so beautiful, please give me some!" LOL They would do ANYTHING to get a piece of candy. Awe, I wish I could be like them - getting happy over something so insignificant.
As I walked out with my red dress for "Santa Baby," all those little girls were "whispering" to each other, "look at her dress, woo, ah, I want that so bad." And there were few whistlings too, probably from six graders. LOL Okay, this is the funny part. I grabbed the school Principal to the stage as my "object of flirtation," and the laughters fromt he kids were simply uncontrollable. Personally, I still can't see why was it so funny. It's probably a kid thing that I can no longer understand. I myself was having such a hard time not to laugh seeing the kids laughing hysterically throughout the whole song. You know what's the cutest thing? Toward the end of the show, the little girls and boys in the front were like, "can I shake your hands?" They treated me like a celebrity. That is SO weird. All of a sudden, I have become someone important. My gosh, this again brings to the point that how influential a media figure is. Those kids really do look up to you as their role models. After I shook one of the boys' hand, he smiled and turned around to his friend, "she shook my hand!!!" Awe, I was gonna cry. Their innocence is priceless! Though I don't consider myself a kids person, now I am thinking about becoming a 1st grade teacher! (nah, that's not gonna happen...I don't think I am patient enough to handle the job)
Well, guess that pretty much sums up the updates. Tomorrow, we are performing at Jordan Commons - a theather + restaurant + stores place from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. It's gonna be a LONG night!
