Brooke woke up with the sun shining through the window and the lace curtains blowing with a gentle breeze.Brooke's leg was propped over McKenzie's long body pillow and McKenzie was fast asleep on the cot.Brooke's blurry eyes drifted over to a clock on the bed stand. The big, bold letters read five past nine.
Brooke groaned and layed her head back down. She sighed loudly. She was hoping to go out and look for a job today, but she didn't even feel like moving.
McKenzie stirred. She opened her eyes and looked at Brooke and smiled.
"Mornin'," She said. "Sorry about last night. That was my boyfriend. He went off the the marines and I haven't seen him in like, forever,so we kinda,um,you know.Again,I'm sorry." Brooke laughed it off. "That's ok." She lied.
McKenzie got out of the cot, letting the covers she was balled up in fall to a puddle on the floor. She walked over to the closet, discarding her socks, shirt and shorts on the way.She ran her fingers through her hair as she stood there looking in the closet.Brooke seen that she had tons of clothes, all different styles and name brands.
"Need something to wear?" McKenzie asked Brooke.
"Um,yea,if you don't mind."
"No problem, honey.Let's see,I think this would look terrific on you." She said, holding up a shiny white tube top that has a matching jacket to cover it and shiny white pants and some shoes.
"Oh,and I have the perfect way to do your hair.Geez, you have such beautiful hair,Brooke." She said, examining it.
Two hours later,Brooke stepped out from the bathroom, looking like a total sophisticated Hollywood girl.McKenzie was in awe. "And what is the name of the jerk that didn't respect you?" She asked, eyeing her. Brooke knew McKenzie was referring to Brian, but she just laughed a little.
"Oh,and one more thing.I remember you said last night that you wanted to go looking for a job today,so if we leave now,we have three hours until I have to go to work. So,you want to?" Mickey asked, while laying out a teeny tiny mini skirt and skimpy shirt for herself.
Brooke eased herself onto the bed slowly. "Um,ok,sure. If that's no problem."
"No problem at all, hun.I can help a friend in need." She said, getting dressed quickly.
Less than an hour later,Brooke had herself a job at the new Paint Shop that just opened and they need employees for assisstance painting, which meant that Brooke would have to go to people's houses and help them paint. She didn't mind though. She liked to paint and the job payed really well.
The manager made her paint a practice wall, and she done really well,so he gave her a shift and asked if she minded working today, because they were really busy.
She didn't mind, but she had to ask McKenzie if she minded picking her up at nine o'clock that night. McKenzie got off work at seven,so she said sure, then left.
"Ok,the first thing I need you to do is..." The manager,Mr.Andrew's started saying, and Brooke got busy.
Brian rolled out of bed.He was so tired. He couldn't go to sleep last night,he missed Brooke so much. But he had promised his parents he would re-paint their bathroom,so he had to do it.
He washed his face in the sink and brushed his teeth and hair and set out to the paint store.
*Beep* "Ok,your total is eighteen fifty-three." Brooke told her customer.
As he was digging into his pocket for the change,Brooke looked up at the door.
Her stomach started flipping, her heart started racing and she felt lightheaded. She had to hold on to the counter for support.Who else but Brian had just walked in the door.
She quickly separated the coins from the customer into the teel and tore his reciept. "Thank you, sir.Have a nice day." She smiled as he turned around, then she told her co-worker,Mark,to take over the register so she could go help the customers in the back with the paint. She didn't want Brian to see her.
