Chapter 5

Haylie heard the two arguing like it was the end of the world or something. She walked closer walking slowly behind a tree and noticed it definatly was Nick. She took a deep breath and decided that she owed him,so if this was his ex-girl who he hated, she was sure he didn't want her back, and she was begging to get back with him...she could change that though right? Haylie causually walked to Nick and put her arms around him,"Nicky I knew you were here somewhere!...Who's this?" She was in drama class... Both Nick and the girl's eyes practically popped out of their sockets. Haylie turned to look at Nick and gave him the wink though to let him know she was acting. Grateful to her he just grinned,"Oh,this is-" "Cassie." The girl interrupted. "I don't believe we've met." Haylie said giving her a fake glare in the eye,"Nick is my boyfriend. Are you guys long time friends or something?" She asked suspicously. "I'm his..EX girlfriend. Well,I can see I'm not needed. Goodbye Nickolas..forever. Don't say you didn't have the chance for something GOOD." She walked away being her haughty self with her head up high. Haylie let go of Nick and started laughing, and then soon after so did he. "You should get an academy award!" He said still grinning. "I know I know!" She said bowing. "So um,uh..," He said nervously,"Why did you do that anyways?" Haylie laughed lightly,"Well,I sort of owed you for that other night ya know. Besides,no offense but that girl seemed like a bitch!" "Speaking of the word bitch..." Haylie gave him a weird look,"The other day,I sort of called you a bitch..right after I spilled those green beans before. Look,I'm sorry,I don't know what got into me,I know we agreed on being friends but I still wanted to apologize for that." Haylie grinned,"I'll never eat green beans again!,"She joked,"But hey,I forgive you okay? I mean,we were both mean to eachother so I'm sorry for the things I said to." They walked slowly together around the park in silence, not really saying much but looking at eachother every few minutes, glancing at one and then looking away quickly. Then, they both came to a stop at once, the park emptied and it became more quiet and still. They both turned to eachother each thinking of something to say,but then...Nick came up with something he thought he'd never say again,"You know, when your not mad,or we're not fighting..you look sort of cute." He said smiling at her. Haylie looked deeply into his sparkling blue eyes, they shined at her and her eyes told him everything she felt for him at that moment. Haylie lifted her hand up slowly and ran her slim fingers through Nick's soft, blonde hair,"You know...your cute to." She said grinning back at him. Nick leaned down, just a bit,and softly kissed Haylie's lips. Haylie wasn't really surprised by his action and kissed back, but after a moment he pulled away. "Sorry." He mumbled. Haylie spun around quickly to hide her redish cheeks,"It's okay. Um,I better be gettin home anyways, okay?" He caught up to her,"Yeah, you walked?" "Uh huh." "Wanna ride?" "Naw,it's cool. I'll see ya later okay?" "Alright, see ya!" He turned around and walked to his car and drove off. Haylie walked in a daze, wondering and thinking of what just happend and why she liked it. She replayed the kiss in her head and got chills just thinking of it. She wanted to get him out of her head, but she knew it wasn't even worth trying.

Haylie's group of friends softly giggeled as the slowly followed her home watching her every move. "You guys, that wasn't so nice...I mean this whole thing isn't cool." Christina suggested to the rest of the girls. "We know it's not nice, but, come ON Christina, don't tell me what we just saw wasn't juicy!" Christina gave her friend Gabby a dirty look,"You better not tell anyone!" "No seriously Chrissy. We SWEAR we won't tell anyone alright? We know it would be wrong,we're all friends and it would be really stupid to do that. Right girls?" The two other girls nodded in agreement,"Yeah,Haylie's our friend." Said Ashley. "Well then, let's go to the pizza parlor, forget about this whole thing and chill for a while okay? I'll call Haylie later and remind her she 'forgot' to come okay?" Christina looked at the girls waiting for a response. Which Ashley quickly did,"Cool, let's go guys!"

Haylie walked up stairs and went stright into her room without saying a word to her family who was in the living room watching T.V. She laid down on her bed and thought of everything she'd went through with Kyle...how she knew he was just a crush at first..but Nick was different,a good different to Haylie. Then there was a soft knock at the door,"Come in." She looked up to see her mother's concerned face,"Honey, what's wrong?" She said sitting next to Haylie on the bed. She threw a short sigh,"Nothing." "Tell me. I'm your mother and I know there's something going on...it's a boy isn't it?" Haylie grinned,"No!" "Then why are you smiling?" "...Because?" "Uh huh! It's Nick isn't it?" "Nooo! Mom how could you think that?" "Dear,I'm not stupid! Now,what happend with him?" "Noothing at all!" "Your a good liar Haylie..tell me when your ready. And I'll listen." She patted her daughter's back softly, got up and left the room. All of a sudden, the phone rang,Haylie got up and wnt to her phone,"Hello?" "Hi Hay!" Said Christina's overly excited voice. "Hi Chris, what's up?" "Um..nothing." Her voice got a suspicous tone Haylie picked up immediatly. "What happend Chrissy? Tell me!" "Uh..nothing?" "Girl you were never good at keepin secrets, now SPILL!" "Why didn't you meet us at the park Haylie?" "I was there..I mean..oh no! Wait..you didn't see-" "Uh..we say everything Haylie.."
