Chapter Forty-Two: Manicure Time

The next day, I awake to see Nick sitting next to me eating pizza and watching T.V.

"Morning," I say sleepily, sitting up.

"Morning babe," he smiles with a mouthful of pizza.

"Yuck," I laugh. "You're eating pizza for breakfast?"

"Uh huh," he says proudly.

"Why didn't you go downstairs with everyone else?"

"I kinda just felt like having pizza," he shrugs.

"Well, that's nutrition at it's finest," I laugh. "Pass me a slice."

He smiles and hands me a piece of the plain cheese pizza.

"Today's your day off right?"

"Yup."

"So what are we gonna do? Do the guys have any plans? Maybe we could all catch a movie or something." I start thinking of ideas of how to spend the day.

"No way!" Nick interrupts. "I've already made plans for us."

"And those plans would be what?" I ask, taking another bite of pizza.

"We're gonna spend the day together. Just me and you relaxing in the hotel room," he smiles.

"That sounds nice."

"Well I'm glad you think so, 'cause I was planning on holding you hostage if you wanted to leave," he jokes.

"Well that doesn't sound so bad either," I smirk. He laughs. "So what are we gonna do in here all day?"

"Whatever we want," Nick shrugs. "Talk, watch T.V, play video games, order room service... I just want to spend the day by ourselves, with no stress from the outside world to take our attention away from each other," he smiles, kissing me softly on the lips.

"That sounds so great. I've been feeling kinda stressed lately and this is just what I need."

"Me too," he agrees. "It's been kinda stressful lately with the whole A.J. situation."

I put my finger on his lips. "Shh," I quiet him. "We're having a relaxing day remember? No talking or even thinking about things that stress us out. Deal?" I smile.

"Deal," he agrees.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Downstairs at Breakfast ~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Yum, this is the best french toast I've ever had," Carolyn says, cutting herself another bite.
"What about the last tour when Nick tried to make us french toast?" A.J. laughs.
"I think tried is the key word there," Howie laughs.
"Yuck, that boy should never cook. He'll end up poisoning someone," Carolyn agrees. "Where are Nick and Ally, anyway?"
"Probably still in bed," Brian answers.
"So, what's on the agenda for today?" Carolyn asks.
"Howie and I are going to visit some of his relatives that live around here," Alissa replies, taking a sip of orange juice.
"Kev and I are going to talk to the managers about the spring tour," Brian answers.
"Hmm," Carolyn nods.
"Well, I'm free," A.J. smiles.
Carolyn smiles. "You wanna go shopping or something?" she suggests.
"Yeah, sure," he agrees.
"Let's go," Carolyn says, getting up from her chair.
"See y'all later," A.J. waves as he places his hand on Carolyn's back, leading them out of the restaurant.
"Is it just me, or do Carolyn and A.J. seem to be rekindeling some kind of romance?" Howie smirks.
"Nah, I doubt it," Alissa replies. "They're just friends again, that's it."
Howie shrugs.
Carolyn and A.J. go back upstairs so Carolyn can get her purse.
"I think I'll let Ally and Nick know where we're going," she says on the way back to the elevator. She knocks on the door.
"Who is it?" Nick yells from his seat on the bed.
"It's Carolyn!" she replies through the door.
"Come in!" I yell.
She opens the door to find us sitting in bed eating pizza and watching T.V.
"What, you guys too lazy to answer the door?" she laughs. "And pizza for breakfast? Yuck."
"We're not allowed to leave our hotel room today," I answer, picking up a piece of pizza and offering it to her. She shakes her head no. I shrug and take a bite of the slice.
You're not allowed to leave? Are the police after you or something?" she jokes.
"We just decided that we are going to stay in here together all day and relax," Nick answers.
"Does answering the door count as leaving?" she asks, looking at us with a funny expression.
Nick and I look at each other. "Yes," we say in unison and laugh.
"Whatever you guys say," she laughs. "Anyway, A.J. and I are going shopping. We'll see you later." She turns to leave.
"You and A.J. huh?" I smirk.
"It's shopping, Ally. It's not like we're going for a walk on the beach or something."
"Whatever," I laugh. "See you guys later."
"Bye." She leaves and closes the door behind her.
"Are A.J. and Carolyn getting back together?" Nick asks, having caught my smirk.
"I dont know. I have some top secret information but I can't tell you," I smile.
"Tell me! Pleeeease," he whines.
"Well since you're my main man I guess I can let you in on it," I laugh. "Carolyn is majorly missing A.J." I smile.
"Really?"
"Uh huh," I nod. "She totally wants him back."
"That's great! Maybe we could get them back together and A.J. will get his mind off of you!" he smiles.
I hit him in the chest.
"Owe! What was that for?" he whines.
We agreed not to talk about that situation today. We're barely an hour into this agreement and you've already slipped!" I scold.
"Sorry. So, do you think A.J's into her too?"
"Well, the other night in Brian's room, he looked pretty 'into her' while they were playing twister," I smile.
"Oh yeah...They were pretty flirty that night," Nick smirks.
"Enough about that," I say, snatching the remote away from him.
"Hey!"
"OMG," I say, looking down at his hands.
"What?" he asks, confused.
I put down the remote and pick up his hand. "Your nails, Nick."
"What?!"
"They're disgusting! All jagged and uneven. And look at those cuticles!"
He pulls his hand away laughing.
"This is not a laughing matter." I get up and go into the washroom.
"Where are you going?" he shouts after me.
"I'm getting some stuff," I answer vaguely.
I come out of the washroom and sit back down on the bed. I grab his hand.
"What are you doing?" he asks with a nervous look on his face.
"I'm going to give you a manicure," I smile, pulling out my nail file.
"No!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Little While Later ~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I can't believe you put nail polish on me," he says, staring down at his manicured nails.

"It's clear, Nick. No one will even know."

"Still, it's so prissy," he laughs.

"Prissy nails for prissy Nick," I joke.

"Hey!"

Just then there's a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" we yell at the same time.

"It's Brian."

"Come in!"

"Hey man," Nick says as Brian walks into our room.

"You guys still in your pajamas?" he laughs.

"Uh huh," I nod. "We're not leaving our room today, so why bother getting dressed?"

"Good point," he smiles.

"So how did the tour meeting thing go?" Nick asks.

"Fine. They're sorting things out," Brian says, walking over to the bedside table.

"Ooh. Can I have a slice?" he asks, noticing the open box of pizza.

"Sure. But it might be cold now."

Brian shrugs and picks up a piece.

"So Brian, do you like Nick's nails?" I ask proudly.

Nick reluctantly holds his hands up.

"Very nice. So shiny," Brian laughs. "Is that nail polish?"

"You said no one would notice!" Nick glares over at me.

"Oh well, Brian's just jealous."

Brian nods sarcastically. "Totally jealous, man," he jokes. "Anyway, I came here to let you guys know that Leighanne and Jessica are going to be here in a few hours."

"Huh?" Nick asks.

"They both got time off work so they decided to catch a flight out here today. It was kinda a spur of the moment thing," he explains.

"Oh. That's great. You and Kevin must be happy," I smile.

"Yep. So are you guys going to come to dinner with us later or are you gonna stick to this 'we're-not-leaving-our-room-today thing?'" he laughs.

"What do you think?" Nick asks, looking at me.

I sigh. "I guess we'll come. We can always lock ourselves in a hotel room some other time. And besides, Nick should show off his nails while they're still pretty," I laugh.

Brian smiles. "K. Be ready by about 6:30. We've got a private room at this cool bar and grill place downtown."

"Sounds good. See ya later," Nick says as Brian leaves the room.
