Chapter 14

“Be a doll, and do that will you?” Brian riposted. “If dad comes home and finds out that we don’t know where they are, we’re all dead.”

“I’ll be back in a few,” Lenore replied. “I’ll check upstairs first.” With that she left to go look for them. As she walked past the front door to go up the stairs she heard voices coming from outside. She looked out the screen door, and spotted her sisters standing on the front lawn; they looked as though they were talking to someone. Lenore stepped outside to find them talking to a group of teens; there were four guys and three girls, who seemed to range from 15-19.She ducked behind the bush next to the porch, so that they didn’t know she was there eavesdropping.

“C’mon, we’ll take ya to the circus, if ya come with us,” a medium height, blond guy, who looked to be about seventeen, with cute green eyes, told them. “We’ll bring ya right back afterwards.”

“We gotta ask our brother first,” Emily replicated. “If he says yes, then we’ll go with you.”

“What’s the matter, don’t you trust us?” A girl, who was about eighteen, with short auburn hair, and blue eyes asked. “We won’t hurt you, ain’t that right Candy?”

“No, I don’t trust you,” Emily responded, reaching over and clutching Tessa’s hand. “My daddy says not to trust strangers.”

Candy, who was about seventeen, with long blond hair and brown eyes, replied, “No. No, we won’t; now do you wanna go to the circus or not?”

“Emmy, I wanna go to circus!” Tessa stated. “I wanna see the elephants!”

“Yeah, listen to your sister,” the blond guy said. “If ya don’t hurry, you’ll miss the whole thing.”

“We can’t go unless Brian, Stevie, or Lenore’s with us,” Emily retorted. “We can’t go anywhere without one of them.”

“C’mon, it won’t hurt ya to go just this once without them,” a dark haired guy with brown eyes, started. “You’ll be there and back before they even know that you’re gone.”

Lenore, who was still behind the bush, admired Emily for remembering all the safety tips that their dad had given them. She stayed crouched down, and listened to the rest of the conversation.

“I said no!” Emily answered. “We can’t go, ‘cause they won’t be able to come with us.”

“Why not?” A guy about nineteen, with red hair, and blue eyes, queried. “Why can’t they take you; it’s in the park.”

“They’re grounded and not allowed outta the house, that’s why,” Emily informed them. “Daddy would be real mad if they took us, and I don’t want them to get into anymore trouble.”

“Your oldest brother’s grounded too?” Candy questioned; after Emily nodded, she laughed, “That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Emmy, I wanna see the elephants!” Tessa whined. “I wanna go to circus now!”

“I’ll buy you a souvenir if ya come with us,” the dark haired guy riposted.

“I’ll buy you cotton candy too.”

“No!” Emily returned. “I love cotton candy, but I’m still not going!”

“Fine, do it the hard way!” The red head declared, moving towards her. “I’ve had it with the small talk.”

“Uh, guys?” The girl, who looked to be fifteen, with shoulder length brown hair, and brown eyes, piped up. “I’m…I’m sorry, but I…I…I can’t do this.”

“What do ya mean, ya can’t do this Shannon?” A guy around sixteen, with blue spiked hair, and blue eyes, questioned. “We had it all planned, remember?”

“I…I know, but I just can’t,” Shannon insisted. “I really like Nick and I can’t go kidnapping his best bud’s little sisters.”

“Fine, be that way,” Candy growled. “We’ll just split your share of the ransom money between us then.”

“I…I can’t let you do this,” Shannon cried. “I refuse to let you kidnap them!”

“Shut-up you moron!” The blond guy shouted. “Don’t just stand there people, grab them!”

“Run Emily, Tessa! Run!” Shannon yelled. “Run to Brian! Now!”

Emily grabbed Tessa again and started to run, but she was too late, the red head and the guy with blue hair nabbed them. “You’re coming with us!” They stated in unison.

Lenore stepped out from behind the bush. “Excuse me, but what the hell do you think you’re doing kidnapping my little sisters?” She asked. “You have no right to kidnap them; now put them down.”

Shannon saw that Lenore was distracting them, so she pounced on the blond guy, who was about to take Tessa. He collapsed to the ground with her still on his back; Shannon started pounding on him with her fists.

“What are you gonna do?” Candy queried. “Yell at us? You very well can’t stop us.”

“How much ya wanna bet?” Lenore questioned, attacking her. Lenore and Candy fought as the other girl and the three guys attempted to put Emily and Tessa in the back of a van.

“Kevy!” Tessa screamed at the top of her lungs. “Kevy! Help! Kevy!”
