Chapter 21

They continued to sit there waiting for them to announce the awards that the guys were nominated for. A while later they announced that they’d be doing the award for ‘Best Album Of The Year’. Lenore and Stevie sat there wiggling in their seats for they new that the Boys were nominated in this category.

“The nominees for ‘Best Album Of The Year’ are: Will Smith, Willennium; Cher, Believe; Backstreet Boys, Millennium; Savage Garden, Affirmation; and Santana, You Knew About It.” Rosie O’Donnell started. (I don’t know what Santana’s CD is called)

“Backstreet Boys, Backstreet Boys, Backstreet Boys!” Lenore and Stevie repeated over and over again.

“And the winner is…..” Rosie continued. “The Backstreet Boys with Millennium!”

“YEAH!!!!!” Lenore and Stevie screamed jumping up out of their seats along with Nick’s younger siblings. “YES!!!!! YIPEEE!!!!!” They then turned and hugged each of the -Boys and congratulated them.

The Backstreet Boys headed out into the aisle after hugging their families. Before he went up Brian leaned over and grabbed Lenore’s hand, then dragged her up to the stage with him. He had also nodded to Stevie who was following close behind them. When they got up on the stage they shook hands with Rosie then began their little speeches.

“This is an honor, to win this Grammy,” Kevin began. “We’d like to thank God, our management, Fatima, our band, our security team, and I’d like to thank my family.”

“I’d like to thank my family,” Howie said. “I’d also like to dedicate this award to my sister, Caroline, who died of the disease Lupus.”

Brian stepped up to the microphone then, pulling Lenore with him. “We thank the fans of course,” Brian stated, then he looked at Lenore and Stevie who were standing beside him. “I’d also like to thank my family for always being there for me through all the good and bad times.”

“I thank my family too,” Nick replicated. “And of course all of our fans, because without you guys, we’re nothing.”

A.J. walked over to the microphone then and rejoined, “I’d really like to thank my mom, Granny, and Pop-pop for always being there for me.” With that theyrst.

“S guys, how’s it feel to win this Grammy?” Rick queried. “Did you think that you would win?”

“We’re extremely happy to have won this award,” Kevin answered. “We weren’t sure whether or not we’d win being up against people like Cher and Santana who’ve been doing this for years.”

“Now, you’re nominated for four other awards, do you think you’ll win those too?” Rick questioned.

“We’re not sure whether or not we’ll win those too,” Howie replicated. “It all depends on how the fans voted and who we’re up against.”

Rick then noticed Stevie standing next to Brian and Lenore rooted on the other side of him, clutching his hand in hers. “Who might you be?” he asked nodding to Stevie. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before.”

“His name’s Stevie,” Brian replied. “He’s my younger brother.”

“Pleased to meet you Stevie,” Rick responded. “How old are you?”

“I’m fifteen,” Stevie rejoined. “No, I don’t have a girlfriend, if that’s what you’re wondering.”

Rick turned to the camera, “Ladies, you heard him right, he’s free and all yours.”

“Brian can I hold the award now?” Lenore asked. “I wanna see how heavy it really is.”

“Who might you be?” Rick interrogated as Brian took the award from Nick and handed it to her. “Be careful with that thing, it’s heavy and you don’t want to drop it.”

“I’m not three years old Rick,” Lenore retorted. “I know these things are heavy.”

“You are?” Rick continued, trying to find out who she was. “How do you know my name?”

“Hello, you’re on Much Music all the time, like duh!” Lenore stated, then she looked into the camera. “For those of you who don’t know, I’m Brian’s fifteen year-old sister, name’s Lenore, and no Stevie and I aren’t twins.”

“You’re his sister eh?” Rick queried. “You watch Much Music?”

“I just said that,” Lenore rejoined. “Oh course I watch Much Music, how else am I supposed to see their videos all the time?”

“You’re a big fan of your brother and his friends?” Rick questioned. “Wow.”

“It’s brother, cousin, and friends,” Lenore informed him. “Yes, people Stevie and I are Kevin’s little cousins.”

“You want me to hold the Grammy?” Nick asked her as it started to slip out of her hands “It’s gotta be getting heavy.”

“Nick, I’ve got it!” Lenore snapped. “I’m not some pathetic little weakling, just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I can’t hold heavy objects!”

“Okay, I was just asking,” Nick replicated. “But if ya drop it, don’t blame me.”

“So, guys, what’s your favourite song or songs off of your new album?” Rick interrogated changing the subject. “I’d have to say my favourite is I Want It That Way.”

“My favourite songs would have to be, Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely, and Spanish Eyes,” Nick stated. “I really like those two.”

“I like Spanish Eyes because it kinda has something to do with my family background," Howie informed him.

“My favourites would have to be Don’t Wanna Lose You Now and Show Me The Me Of Being Lonely.” Kevin riposted. “They have a lot of meaning to us.”

“I’d have to say, Don’t Want You Back because it shows a side of us that you’ve never seen before,” A.J. told him. “I also like The Perfect Fan.”

“Aw, how sweet,” Brian joked. “Thanks man.”

“I like Larger Than Life, It’s Gotta Be You, and The One,” Stevie replicated. “I especially like Larger Than Life because it’s got a cool beat and you can really groove to it.”

“My favourite songs, in no particular order, are I Want It That Way, Don’t Wanna Lose You Now, Larger Than Life, The One, Don’t Want You Back, The Perfect Fan, and Back To Your Heart,” Lenore verified. “I love all the other songs too.”

“You just about named them all, didn’t you?” Rick laughed. “So, Brian, what’s your favourite song?”

“Well, I don’t wanna sound egotistical or anything, but I’d have to say The Perfect Fan, because of what my mom meant to me when she was alive,” Brian replied. “My mom would be really proud of it, because she knows how much I love her. I know that I am very proud of it because of that.”

“Well, thank-you for your time, but we have to be going,” Rick responded shaking hands with all seven of them. “I know you have to get back to your seats, so that you can see the rest of the show.”
