Mandy Moore To Resume Work On Edgy New Album by: Teri vanHorn

Mandy Moore is expected to resume work on her rock-edged third album next week after recovering from a recent tonsillectomy.

The surgery forced the 16-year-old singer to take a break from recording, but it shouldn't threaten the disc's planned late March release, her Epic Records spokesperson said.

The as-yet-untitled LP will be the first album from the New Hampshire-born, Florida-raised singer to feature live instrumentation throughout, which is said to add an edginess her sound.

"I'm so excited about it because it's not what you might expect," Moore said Sunday night while attending the People's Choice Awards, where she was a presenter.

Moore, who has been recording in New York and Los Angeles, co-wrote two songs for the album, though they are not yet confirmed for the final cut.

The disc follows last year's I Wanna Be With You, a collection of remixes and new tunes, and it will be her first album of all new material since her 1999 debut, So Real. Moore will make her big-screen debut in Garry Marshall's "The Princess of Tribeca" this summer.
