OTOWN at NJ State Fair

August 11, 2001

Well, this concert was definitely an interesting experience to say the least. First of all, it was in a really "hick" town. There's nothing wrong with the people there, it's just different then what we are use to. Anyway, we got there fairly early and figured we ride some rides or something but after being charged to get into the park, you had to pay again for tickets to get on the rides. So we didn't want to waste our money on that so we ate and walked around for hours. Seeing Llamas and all sorts of animals walking around freely was a little scary too. But we were there for OTOWN so we dealt with it.

They finally let us in and we get to our seats which were pretty good. We go buy t-shirts and other merchandise and then sit and wait. Well the opening act, Marcus, comes out and a girl two rows in front of us decides to stand on her chair. She was fairly tall and there was really no need for it. Someone asked her to get down and she was very rude and yelled at the girl. Well luckily we didn't really care about seeing Marcus so we sat there the whole time making loud comments about the girl who thought she was so cool for pissing so many people off. SHe was so immature. Teenies I swear! So of course everyone behind her has to stand on their chairs in order to see. I saw ok and Gina saw ok but her sister didn't which really isn't fair. The security there should have taken control of the situation before everyone else had to get on their chairs. It was so ridiculous.

Now on to OTOWN. They opened with "Take Me Under" which is one of my favorite songs. The dancing was great and they sounded awesome, especially during the fast rap part. They did every song off the album except "All For Love" and also sang their next single "We Fit Together." It was great to see Ashley playing piano during "Baby I Would" and Ashley and Jacob rock on their guitars during "Love Should Be A Crime." I also loved when they each did solos. Dan sang some Stevie Wonder and he just sounded absolutely perfect. Erik sang "Purple Rain" by Prince, the song suited him well. Jacob did a song by the Beatles I believe, he sounded great, I love his voice cuz it's so different. Trevor started off singing a country song which was weird and then went into Outkast's "Ms. Jackson" which was even weirder but he made it work. Then Ashley came out with his guitar and sang "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls. I think that was my favorite of the night, he just sounds so incredibly hot when he sings that song. I was happy that they added "Sensitive" to the show, it is a great song and the choreography was so cute cuz it fit the song well. They made flames with their hands to go with the lyrics of the song and things like that. It was too cute. During "The Painter" they brought a little girl onstage and sang the song to her. She looked happy but a little scared too. Well near the end of the song Ashley was saying she looked shy. So he went into "Now I'm standing right in front of you, I confess I'm nervous too" and then they finished with "Shy Girl." It was such a perfect moment for that, I was laughing cuz it was so cute. "Liquid Dreams" was hot as usual, and even hotter was "Every Six Seconds." Then they performed "All Or Nothing" as their encore which was amazing, of course.

The guys put on an awesome show, it's just a shame that a few of their fans had to be so rude. It's not their fault though, we still love them, even more so since then. If you have any reviews or pics, please send them to JohnnysgrlBSB@aol.com. Thanks.
