Puntos de Encuentro en la Ciudad de Mérida
The Gay zone of Mérida is in the hearth of the city itself. The 60 street is one of the most important streets in the city. It cross the city from north to south, and it is all ours in the night Well, the first place you must visit is the 60 street , from the main park o "Plaza Grande" (also called "Plaza de la Independencia") to Santa Ana´s Park. All the way through this street you will find, at night, a lot of guys like you, in the street corners, walking casually, sitted in one of the many chairs of one of the several parks that surronded this street, or maybe at the door of a old house. You are going to find a true crowd of young men (don´t ask about womens in here, you won´t finde them) We suggest you to take a minute or two to enjoy a coffe on "El Café Express". From your table, you will have a clear idea of who is coming and going one and again with no aparently reason; and that are the guys that are there for the same reason tath you. |

All over the 60 streets, and also near of it, you will find several coffe shops. You can go to any of them to enjoy a beer, a coffe or a full meal.. All this places are well known for being visited for gay people. One of the most recomended is "La Habana" it is located on 59 street in the corner of 62 street. It is the only 24 hours coffe shop of the zone. Late, at night is the only place open. |
Others coffe shops in the zone are " PoP" (with 70´s style design) and "El Edén". This last is the only gay owned and operated coffe shop of the city and it is very popular in the local gay comunity. (you can find the adress at me map above) |

If you have already walked all the street you may want to go now to a place to dance, drink and maybe cruise a little. "El Establo" is the best place for your porpuses. This small disco is always plenty of people like you, looking for other people, every day, all the year. Tourists are very common on it. so, you will not be the only one. |
If you have found a partner and you are into exiting stuff you may want to try the steam rooms of "Hotel Colón". It is located to few metters from 60 street (actually on 62 street). This place used to apear in old international gay guides. This because the manager atitud towars gay people. The adress is 62 street with 59 and 57 streets.
