“Where have you been all night?” he asked looking Taylor over.
“I’m sorry, Ike, I fell asleep at a friend’s room.”
“Well, you better get in here before Mom or Dad realizes you were gone!”
Taylor smirked and walked in. Isaac noticed his small skip he made when he entered the room. Isaac felt strange. Something was weird with his brother. He was…giddy.
“Tay, why are you skipping like that?”
“Like what?” Taylor asked dropping down onto the couch.
“Nevermind…” Isaac muttered before leaving the room to finish getting dressed.
Taylor bent his head down to sniff his jacket. It still had the scent of Annah on it.
“Mmm…” he said to himself. He hadn’t realized Isaac had walked back into the room and stopped dead in his tracks when he heard Taylor make that noise. Isaac just widened his eyes and turned around to leave the room.
“Zac, man, something weird is goin on with Taylor. He’s not himself today.”
“What do you mean?” Zac asked taking a bite of his bagel.
“Well, just go try to talk to him, you’ll understand.”
Zac shrugged and walked into the the living area.
“Hey, Tay…how was your night?” Zac asked plopping beside him on the couch.
Taylor grinned.
“Superb!”
Zac nearly coughed on his bagel at Taylor’s choice of word. His eyes widened as he touched his hand to his throat and swallowing hard.
“Is that so? Well, I-uh…I’m glad.”
Taylor looked at Zac and smiled. He smacked him on the knee.
“Thanks, pal!”
Zac wrinkled his eyebrows and watched as Taylor rose from the couch and left the room to take a shower. As he did, Isaac walked into the room.
“Well…what did he say to you?”
Zac rubbed his knee where Taylor had smacked him. Rather hard actually.
“He smacked me!” Zac whined.
“Huh?”
“Nevermind…something weird is goin on with him. He’s too…too…” Zac looked around the room as he thought of the word he was looking for. “He’s too…happy!”
Isaac laughed.
“I found that out already.”
“And his choice of wording was sooooooo not Taylor. I asked him how his night went and he said ‘superb!’”
Zac emphasized the word in the way Taylor had.
Isaac laughed even harder.
“Superb?!”
Zac nodded.
“Hey, Ike, remember when Trey back home had told us about when he and his girlfriend like had sex for the first time?”
“Trey didn’t have sex. They just fooled around a lot,” Isaac corrected.
“Well, whatever…remember how he acted the day after?”
Isaac’s face went pale.
“Tay wouldn’t…would he?”
Zac shrugged.
“Who knows…all I know is he’s acting just exactly how Trey acted.”
“You’re right…” Isaac trailed off when he heard something faintly coming from the bathroom.
“You know-“
“Shh!” Isaac cut Zac off placing his finger on top of his lips. He walked toward the bathroom motioning for Zac to follow him.
Zac rolled his eyes and got up.
“What?” he asked quietly.
“Listen…”
They both set their ear against the bathroom door listening intently.
“You know I’m bad, I’m bad, you know it…OW!”
They heard Taylor singing in a high pitched voice in the shower.
Zac started laughing so hard he fell backwards rolling around on the floor.
Isaac’s face went red trying to keep his giggles in. He couldn’t hold it in any longer. They both began laughing so hard that when Taylor opened the door he stared at them.
“What’s wrong with you guys?” Taylor asked as he stepped over them, holding the towel around his waist heading to put some clothes on.
“Nothing, Michael!” Zac joked still laughing.
