Hunting and Fishing | |||

There is still rewarding hunting to be had in the countryside around New Delhi, although the game population is sadly reduced from the vast numbers found even a decade ago. Excellent duck, goose and partridge shooting is within a half-hour's drive from the city. |
Current regulations allow the import and use of certain categories of
otherwise prohibited arms with the strict proviso, however, that these arms
should not be loaned, transferred or sold to anyone in India. Hunters owning shot guns
only might bring a supply of either buckshot or slugs. Gun cases, gun-cleaning
equipment (including solvents and oils), good quality boots andlor heavy shoes
should be brought. Those planning to do a good deal of hunting Will be well
advised to bring a deep freeze; a jeep or similar vehicle will increase access
to hunting areas. A hunting license must be obtained from each Indian state in
which one wishes to hunt. Hunters are urged to take out liability insurance,
which can be done here at reasonable rates.
Both hunters and fishermen might consider bringing an inflatable boat with a small motor, and chest length waders should be brought by duck hunters and trout fishermen.
