First released
on May 24th 1993, MORE ABBA GOLD was the “sequel” compilation to the
chart-topping album ABBA GOLD – Greatest Hits. Instantly written off as a
flop, this album failed to continue its predecessor’s success, only reaching
around #85 on the American and Australian music charts. The accompanying video
cassette also failed to hit a nerve with the public. But ABBA fanatics were
quick to realise that this album had potential…
Compiled by
Carl Magnus Palm, MORE ABBA GOLD was remastered alongside the first album in September
1999. Deep down, there was hope that this album would finally receive the
correct attention. It seems that only ABBA fanatics and collectors have given
this album the time of day, many of whom were wishing to hear the song I Am The City
which had previously remained an unreleased song.
But this album
is GOLD. At last, an
album that offers a fine selection of ABBA’s musical range (disco, pop, rock,
country) and a rare treat of unreleased material and forgotten but wonderful
B-side tracks.
