“Let’s go in there, so I can buy the CD,” Taylor said pointing to a Virgin Megastore. They walked in and Taylor went off in search of his CD. Jesse browsed through a shelf of teeny bopper magazines. She picked up an issue of Tiger Beat and began flipping through it. There was about 50 million pictures of Hanson. As she was flipping through it something caught her eye. She stooped on a page and just stared at it.
“Okay I got it. Ready to go?” Taylor said from behind her. Jes didn’t say anything.
“Jes?” he asked. He stepped closer and got a glimpse of what she was looking at. It was a picture of her and Tony. He looked at Jes and saw a tear fall from underneath the sunglasses she was wearing. He took the magazine from her.
“Don’t look at pictures like that,” he said putting it back on the shelf, “Out of sight out of mind, remember?”
“Yeah,” she said wiping the tears away. Taylor put his arm around her shoulders and they left the store.
“Wanna get some ice cream?” Tay asked as they walked around .
“Yeah, sure.” They went to a little ice cream parlor that was in the mall and ordered a banana split to share. Then they sat down.
“So, tell me more about this girl you used to date,” Jes said. Taylor laughed. Talking about her no longer upset him.
“Well, he name was Megan. She used to live down the street from us. We had grown up together, so we were best friends.”
“Then one day you just asked her out and then spent 2 years together?”
“Yeah, basically. It was a great 2 years. I mean we shared many first times together, but I don’t know. I guess we just weren’t ment to be.”
“Well that kinda sucks.”
“Yeah it does, but I got over her and everything is perfect now. I’m doing what I love to do and so I’m happy. There are those days though, you know, when I wish I had somebody, but hey, it’s all good.” Jes laughed as she took another bite of ice cream. They sat in silence for awhile just eating.
“What are you thinking about?” Taylor finally said.
“What do you think I’m thinking about?”
“Tony?”
“Of course. How can I not think about him? I mean it’s gonna take some time before I start getting over him.”
“Yes, but good news. You just talked about him and you didn’t cry. That’s always a good sign.” Jes laughed.
