Linda and Howie got a week’s worth of clothes packed. Linda was excited about the move. Finally she would be able to get away. After kissing the baby bye-bye for the hundredth time, Linda and Howie got in the car to get their new place ready.
"Howie, I'm hungry." Linda said about an hour into the drive. Howie pulled into a parking lot of a Court House. "This isn't McDonalds." Linda said smiling.
"Come in with me, I have something to take care of." Howie said. Linda followed him into the Court House. She didn't know what he needed to do and didn't really care; she was just hungry. Howie held her hand and dragged her around a couple of corners; he sure was in a hurry. Howie stopped in front of the desk.
"May I help you?" The lady behind the desk asked.
"Yes. We wanna get married." Howie said.
"Oh, that’s why he was in such a rush!" Linda thought to herself. Linda felt like she might cry. Howie really loved her, maybe the first person who ever has.
"Sign this please." The lady said to Linda. Linda signed her name and turned to Howie. She wanted say something to express what she was feeling. Howie put his finger to her lips, she didn't need to say anything; this was overdue. They walked through the doors of the Court Room. Linda's heart was pounding with anticipation. The judge began the marriage ceremony. Linda thought about the past years’ events; she would go through it all again for Howie she thought to herself.
"Do you, Howard Dorough take Linda to be your lawfully wedded wife, yada yada yada?” (LOL, hey I’m only 22, not married so how should I know? Back to the story....)
"I do." Howie said and squeezed Linda's hand at the same time.
“Do you Linda, take Howard Dorough, blah, blah, blah?” (LOL)
"I do!" Linda practically screamed.
"I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Dorough." The judge said.
They shared a long kiss, collected their marriage license and left the Court House. Howie opened the door for Linda and kissed her again. Pretty soon they were back on the road. They chatted about how happy they were for about 30 minutes.
"Howie?" Linda said.
"Yes sweetheart?"
"I am STILL hungry." Linda giggled.
"I'm sorry." Howie laughed with her as he pulled into a McDonalds.
After they finished eating, they were back on the road, Linda called Howie's mother 12 times to check on Amber. Of course she was fine. As they were driving Linda got bored out of her mind. They ran out of things to talk about and games to play. Linda reached over and began to whisper naughty things in Howie's ear. Howie loved it. Of course he always wanted Linda like that but he loved her too much to act on it while she was going through all the things that happened last year. Howie was trying his hardest to keep his eyes on the road and fighting urges to take her in the backseat and show her what he has wanted to do for a year.
