Letters pertaining to Segregation
WHERE'S MY AFRO PICK? - An Advertisement from FUBU You are in love with TOMMY Because his last name is HILFIGER But behind closed doors, TOMMY Is calling you a n..... But you could care less Because you have been taught to dress to impress. If I asked you about your true history You would have to look on the back of your jeans and GUESS! You come up in the club wearing VERSACE Clothes made by a homosexual male So even when you say you are straight It is very hard to tell. And for footwear you wear TIMBERLANDS, Even under the sun That same tree that is the symbol for them Could have been the same one your ancestors were hung from. I can not forget your NAUTICA When the last memory you have of ships Is coming to North Amerikkka in shackles, Being beat over the back with whips. And to my beautiful black queens Whose creative womb has become barren? I am confused, because your face says Nefertiti, But your sweater reads DONNA KARAN. When was the last time you saw LIZ CLAIBORNE Conversing with black women, But as soon as her name is printed on a purse To Macy's you quickly go running. RALPH LAUREN doesn't even look at black men Unless they are driving him around town But as soon as that slave master appears on the back of the horse You put whatever you have picked up down. My people reclaim your status in this world and in your life. FUBU, incase you didn't know For Us By Us. Buying black will someday suffice.
To whomever the bitter seperatist that wrote this: its too bad that you have this poisoned view of america. I urge you to move out of your city and really experience the wonderful people that live in our country. Or you can choose to live in your city and write the seperatist non-sense that you write. What if I work at a Tommy factory or a Nautica factory...do you hate me because of my skin tone or does it only matter that im a hard working good person. You failed to include that if you do buy off from these designers all you are really doing is building a paycheck for a single mother or a college student or someone who needs a second job to support her or his family. Anyone can choose not to buy from the companies you mentioned-- but to do so based on the CEOs skin-tone would technically make you a Nazi- wouldnt it? If I asked you about your true history I would have to GUESS that you don't understand what Dr.Martin Luther King ultimatley wanted. He wanted to see a day when people would not be judged by the color of their skin but for the content of their character. That meant the end of racial classification in America. Would you really like to see a people with a certain skin-tone buying, selling, and association with people of the same skin-tone and seperating from people with a diffrent color skin-tone? Sounds like segregation, sounds like seperation, sounds like, like..the middle of last century. And finally I must point that the reason why you felt you had to write that letter was to urge a "race" of people to buy from a "race" of people. But they're not are they!! (after all thats why you wrote the letter) There not because they know there is no rational reason to buy or not to buy from someone based on their "race"... Years ago there was half a country that thought just like you but because of the hard work and dillegence put forth buy people more educated that you will ever be, we no longer think like you-and thats the wonderful thing about America
The following is a letter I wrote to a "bi-racial" website promoting its needed federal classification.... let me begin by saying that, all humor aside, your page is just a security blanket. It is absurd this day in age to even start classifing people of so called mixed herratige into a neat little thing called bi-racial... well but i bet it makes all you "bi racial" people feel like you belong , right? you said it yourself, the page was made so bi racial people would fee lat home.... i sense poor self esteem. Oh listen to me bash your site that only strives to give official recognition to bi racial people.....why u ask? Well the more socially productive approach would be to act on ENDING all raciall classifications, black, white ,purple, green, bi racial, tri racial, quad racial, yellow, ..WHATS the DAMN difference huh? wait...im hearing you say...NOTHING..there u go..so lets all band together to end the classifications based on skin color! its absurd when u think about it. You state that we are all people, a human race...yet you mention 'bi racial people more than you menton 'people' on your web page( as if to insinuate a difference between the 2 ) can you see where this might lead to trouble..the whole classifing thing...?? hmm? i know your only 19 and trying to find yourself...but all you need to know is if your a good person and the people you like are a good people...all this color, and nameing sh*t is crazy!!
