Eventhough Justin was born in Memphis, Tennessee, JC in Washington DC, Joey in
Brooklyn, New York, Chris in Clarion, Pennsylvania and Lance in Laurel, Mississippi and
they weren't related in any way, in 1995 these 5 boys became 'N SYNC.
Now the hometown of the boys is Orlando, Florida. They have the same manager as the Backstreet
Boys, but he wasn't really the person who brought them together. They did that themselves. JC went to
Orlando to be in a show on the Disney Channel called the Mickey Mouse Club (MMC). Over
there he met Joey through a mutual friend. A few years later Justin joined the cast of the MMC
and there he met JC. They became friends and after the show was canceled they stayed friends
and they wanted to stay in the showbiz. In the mean time Joey and Chris were both working at
Universal Studio and they became friends. When Justin went back to Orlando to audition for a
group, he met Chris. THat group didn't work out and Chris brought up the idea of starting a
group. When he, Justin and JC were together one night, they ran into their friend Joey. They
guys became good friends and began singing together. They liked the sound, but something
was missing. Justin called his old voice coach and that's when they first heard of Lance. They
called up Lance and he took the next plane to Orlando. When he began to sing in front of the
guys the others knew that he was the right person for them.
So that's how 'N SYNC started. Their name has a double meaning. First, if you put all last
characters of their names together (justiN, chriS, joeY, lansteN and jC) you find 'N SYNC and
second, 'N SYNC means all together at the same time, and that's what they do. They have
great and funly dance routines and their voices harmonize perfectly. So that's the story about
'N SYNC.
