The Garden

(R. Matsuo, H. Mahelona)

Lost in your garden ‘neath an arbor of trees
I feel the sun smiling down on me
I see the rainbow beaming above
I think this garden is the garden of love.

I pick the fruit and smell every flower
That you have left me in my desperate hour.
I feel the sweetness spill down my spine.
I think I wanna make this garden mine.

        Chorus
What you reap is what you sow
The garden tells you what you wanna know.
Let's plant the seeds of a beautiful love
Then stick around and watch it grow.

We move together as we begin
The scent of roses runs along our skin
The ground is warm and our spirits are high
We're planting something that'll never die.

Our garden grows with earthly delights
Who could imagine such a beautiful sight?
Peace to the world, every woman and man
It all begins with the seed in your hand.

        Chorus

It's years later, and it's sad indeed
Our lovely garden's now a bed of weeds
The flowers faded and the stream run dry
We never planned to let our garden die.

But when we look, we find a little seed
The recollection may be all we need.
Roll up our sleeves, put on our gloves and then
Pull it all out and start all over again.
