Life Goes On

(R. Matsuo)

In one man's mind there is no decision.
What will come will surely be.
How he lives today by any other means won't change his destiny.

And so therein lies the question:
Is another man's life is not his own?
Do what he will, but his consequences still will be unknown.

        Chorus
Life goes on, now or later.
Still goes on, whichever is greater.
Life goes on, no matter the choice.
Still goes on, to hear your voice.

For tomorrow and the next day,
two will be figures of the past.
One for fate, the other for the wait to make sure his good deeds will last.

Yet unwritten is what is so.
How we live is how we'll go.
What matters in the end is to be good to the next, or is it so?

Can fate be set back by the rule;
that golden ideal of how to choose?
Do we worry to be kind for our peace of mind, of all the things we do?

When it comes to that fork in the road,
could destiny be so bold?
To be proud of one choice when there is no other voice than our own.
