SAVING A TRANSPARENT GIF
If you want an image you're creating for the Web to have a transparent background, follow these simple steps: Make the image on a white background. Grab the Eyedropper tool from the Tool palette and right-click on the background color white. Now go to the File menu and choose Export Transparent GIF. A dialog box will open. Choose White for the transparency color. For best results on an image that contains drop shadows, set the Tolerance at 50. Click on the Colors tab and choose 256 colors by using the slider or by typing in 256. Choose Optimized Median Cut and then click OK to save your image. Your background will now be transparent.
