I love you...
This morning I woke up so early
Was still so cold and dark outside
I knew no matter where I went today
There was no place I could hide
I picked up the phone and called in sick
My boss was not amused
No matter what he threatened me with
Each request was firmly refused
I tried to start my car just then
As I watched it start to rain
And when I gave up trying that
I began my walk in vain
The Heavens opened up on me
My clothes were soaked right through
With mud seeping in my shoes so thick
I still knew what I had to do
I watched an old man fall down fast
And a woman with a road side flat
But I ran right by them quickly
There was more to do than that
I had no money with me
So I stole flowers from a stall
The florist chased me fruitlessly
As I lost him in the mall
With authorities now on my tail
My destination became quite hard
But finally I was there at last
Our town's oldest graveyard
There I laid the flowers on the spot
Where my only daughter now lay
For one year ago in a tragic moment
My darling had passed away
I won't forget you darling
And I'm sorry that I was late
But I promise I'll get here sooner
Next year on this date.
