If you long to visit paradise
Or Shangri-la or Eden
Just travel north and you will find
The place that you are needin'
It's Townsville, nestled in the sun
Where Summer dwells all year
There's no need for Winter woolies
Just a flower behind your ear
You can laze on balmy beaches
Sail upon the water blue
Feel the cooling breezes on your skin
Now tanned a golden hue
It's a peaceful, kind of laid-back place
But full of life and fun
Where the tourists flock here from the south
To wallow in the sun
For me there is no other place
That I would rather be
I love Townsville, jewel in the sun
This is the place for me
This poem was given to me from my mother Valmae. She entered it in a local competition and won a prize....pretty neat huh?
