I searched back into my memory
To think of the sweetest times
And these are what I remembered
Things of the happiest kind
Meeting for the first time
I believe it was J.F.K.
The hug that went on forever
It was such a glorious day
Then there was that moment
When she gave me a kiss
I remember having said to myself
It doesn't get better than this
I was wrong once again I see
As I remember the very next morning
The greeting from my sweetie
It really stopped me yawning
Then each following day
I'd look out at the morn
Taking in my new life
Amongst the beauty of the dawn
Then those marvellous meals
Each exciting and new and quite yummy
No person previously had
Given so much love to my tummy
My first trip with her to work
The animals so strange and new
Dunkin Donuts and snow
And the sight of a cinder truck too
Thanksgiving was a treat
And Halloween such a blast
But like my hollowed out pumpkin
The experience didn't last
But of all the things I recall
The best would have to be
Every moment she was near
Wanting to be with me
Though those days are gone
And happiness is in the past
I'll always have my memories
For they will last and last
