(Katrillion) -- Aaron Carter may have the love of teen girls around the world, but apparently the man who was closest to his business affairs has betrayed his trust.

The 14-year-old pop star has filed a lawsuit against former manager Lou Pearlman, alleging that Pearlman failed to pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties.

Stakes are higher now that Aaron has become the third major act to sue Pearlman. His brother, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, and *NSYNC were locked in a court battle with the music mogul. Aaron contends in his suit that Pearlman is involved in "a pattern of criminal activity" that makes him a racketeer.

If Aaron wins on the racketeering account, Pearlman's penalties will be tripled.

Calls placed to Transcontinental, Pearlman's company, were not immediately returned.

Earlier this year, boy band Take 5 sued Pearlman for violating Florida's child labor laws. In an interview, Pearlman claimed the charges were unfounded.

Aaron has released four albums, including 2001's "Oh Aaron," 2000's "Aaron's Party," 1999's "Surfin' U.S.A." and his 1998 debut, "Aaron Carter."
