MARATHON -- Teen pop star Aaron Carter plans to end his 2002 tour with a concert in his new hometown of Marathon.

The concert, scheduled for Sept. 28 at the Marathon airport, will benefit the Grace Jones Day Care Center. Carter also held a concert in December to benefit the not-for-profit daycare center.

"Kids Helping Kids is the theme of Carter's event and started last year as his mother, Jane, wanted Aaron to make a contribution to his community," said Monica Stanny, chair of the event.

Grace Jones was founded as a school for black children in 1957. After desegregation in 1965, it began providing extended daycare to area families.

All admission proceeds will go to the center, and proceeds from the food and beverage concessions will go to the Marathon High School Band.

Local singer/guitarist Jen will also be performing. She was billed on last year's concert but was unable to perform due to Carter's last-minute scheduling arrangements.

Tickets are $20 and can be ordered through Ticketmaster at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 358-5885. As of this week, no tickets will be available at the concert.

For $100, fans can sit in the VIP area of the concert and will be able to meet Carter for a photo opportunity. "Meet N Greet" tickets can be purchased by calling Win at Keys Animal Hospital at 743-6250.
