Jive Records recording artists Aaron Carter, and his older brother, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, were among a number of recording artists that recently helped Michael Jackson record the single "What More Can I Give" to benefit the orphans and survivors of the September 11 attacks on America. Carter told LAUNCH about his recording session for Jackson's charity single. "I had a good time," he said. "My brother and I did this line...the line was 'brother to brother lets lay down our fears to reach out make a pact.' Everybody was involved. Tiger Woods was in it, Beyonce (Knowles of Destiny's Child), *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, R. Kelly, Billy Gilman...a lot of people."
The 13-year-old pop star added that since the recording session, he and Jackson now speak on the phone. "It was fun I had a good time. He's a really nice guy, and I'm actually pretty good friends with him. I talk to him every once in awhile--like last night I talked to him. So, he's a really cool guy," he said.
Artists that contributed vocals to the benefit track include Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, Celine Dion, Tom Petty, Usher, Julio Iglesias, Reba McEntire, Luther Vandross, Shakira, Brian McKnight, Gloria Estefan, Mya, Jon Secada, Billy Gilman, Ziggy Marley, and others.
"What More Can I Give" will be available at participating McDonald's fast-food restaurants in both English and Spanish formats for $2.99. The effort hopes to raise more than $50 million for the cause. Jackson's new album, Invincible, is released today (October 30).
