Let the games begin!
Hundreds of pint-size fans got a big treat yesterday as the lobby of Madison Square Garden was transformed into a playland of fun and games for the first annual Knicks Kids Day. Kids took turns shooting baskets, playing miniature golf, watching stiltwalkers and balloon artists and eating plenty of popcorn and cotton candy.
"I like it because they have a lot of activities and food," said Anisha Vazquez, 13, one of a group of kids attending from Isaac Newton Jr. High School.
Steve Mills, executive vice-president for franchise operations, said the event was created as a way to give back to the teams' youngest fans.
"This is clearly something our fans are embracing. We couldn't be happier," he said yesterday as he watched the festivities.
DeShauna Richards, 9, of Long Island, got to meet one of her favorite singers - kid pop star Aaron Carter.
"I'm going to tell all my friends that I took a picture with Aaron Carter and shook his hand," she said.
"This is great, I think I'm more excited than she is," said Shauna's mom, Wanda Richardson, 36.
