PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
by Joe Morales
Hi all – the leaves are changing colors in many parts of the country and you can begin to feel that nip in the air. Can Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter and 2004 be far behind?
We are coming to the end of the second year of existence of The Bottle Chapter and the election of officers for 2004 will be coming up soon. I have become a delegate for the Florida Democratic Party and will be attending their State and National Conventions. As a result, I will be de-emphasizing my involvement in Coca-Cola collecting until after next year’s national election. Therefore, we would appreciate volunteers to run for President of our Chapter, or for any of the other officer positions. If you don’t volunteer, you might just be "selected" like someone else we know!
Sincerely, Joe

THE PROPERTIES OF COKE
By Jim Flowers
In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.
To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
Vice President’s Report
Ken’s Korner
Hi Everyone,
The last 2 months have gone by very fast. We have moved but we still have boxes in most rooms. I don’t know if I will ever get my Coca-Cola storage area unboxed & straightened out to where I know where I can find what I want without going through every box. My Coca-Cola room is coming along although I haven’t decided how to display my bottles. There are so many neat items to put on the walls or around the walls that they hamper displaying the bottles. You never realize how many bottles you have until you pack them to move. I thought the boxing would never end.
We have just come back from a great show in Atlantic, IA. Hats off to everyone who had a part in planning it. A record was set in registrations with 226. I think most everyone had a good time. The Branson, MO show is coming up Oct 23-25. The number registered as of 10/5 is 211. This will be our first show & hope people will come to have fun because Branson is a fun place. Also, the Choo Choo show will take place on Nov 6-8. Please support the local chapter events when possible.
Wrapped bottles are continuing to make inroads in the foreign markets (see new ones below). The United States only has two so far: 2002 Christmas & the NY Yankees. The designs are beautiful & very well done but no one knows of the longevity of the wrap. At this time I’m not sure of the future of wrapped bottles. I think a lot will depend on whether the bottle is kept out of direct sunlight & how much it is moved.
Here are the new bottles that have come out since my June article. Let me know if I missed any.

News from France
By Michel Houche
Here are the pictures of the very last "special" bottles issued in France. These bottles are 500 mL plastic bottles with styrofoam plastic wrapped on it! These are the very first French Coca-Cola bottles (less or equal 500 mL) issued with that technology. It is a commercial sale with "Coke up to you:" one bottle with Cinéma pictures and the other one with music pictures.
I hope you'll enjoy this info from France

Bottles Anyone?

"Here are 3 pics of my family room displaying about 2000 hobbleshirts from 1990 through present... the non-USA bottles are cased up... the empty shelf is for the rest of 2003.... it's a never-ending story... I guess I have about a year before I have to build another shelf, hand wiping, dusting and tagging"
